Stampin’ Up! Hobby Haven Card for Let’s Craft and Create Challenge

Create this card using Hobby Haven by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets to Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Let’s Craft and Create Challenge starts today, and the theme this month is “something new.” I bet you have some new supplies that you purchased over the holidays on sale, so now is a great time to join our challenge! I had too much fun shopping during the holidays. It’s just too tempting when there’s a great sale. So, choosing something for this theme was daunting! I decided to have some fun with the Hobby Haven designer paper. This paper has something for everyone on your list. I already have another project in my head that I can’t wait to make. My crafting friend, Sue Jackson, has been touting this fold for a while now. She learned this fun fold from Sue Campfield, who has a video tutorial HERE.

Ready to get your creative juices flowing? Head over to the gallery for a dose of inspiration, and if you’re feeling crafty, come play along with us!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this Z-fold card started with 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 cardstock and was scored at 2-1/8 and 4-1/4. I like smaller borders so I have listed the measurements for a 1/4″ border as well as the 1/8″ border that I used.
  • DSP: 4 x 5-1/4 (inside panel)—my project was 4-1/8 x 5-3/8
  • DSP: 1-7/8 x 5-1/4 (front and middle panels) – my project was 2 x 5-3/8
  • Pop-up cardstock: 3 x 2-1/4; scored on 3″ side: 3/4, 1-1/2, 2-1/4. This was adhered to the inside of the card about halfway down the scored fold.
  • Image panel for front: 3-1/4 x 4-3/4
  • Sentiment panel on pop-up: 2-3/4 x 4-1/4

And now, the fun part!

  • The fun part of this project was choosing the images from the ready-made die-cuts. Once I chose the sewing images I wanted to use, all I had to do was cut the panels from the Textured Notes dies.
  • I cut Coastal Cabana cardstock with a circle die from Stylish Shapes dies and dry embossed it in the Exposed Brick embossing folder. I adhered it to the front panel (make sure not to apply it to the right side), then added the cute sewing machine image with dimensionals.
  • Then, I stamped the sentiment for the front of the card and cropped it out with the Stylish Shapes square die. I popped it up with dimensionals. Then, I adhered the other images around to finish the card.

Then, on the inside…

  • I stamped the sentiment from the retired Crafting with You stamp set (combining new and retired is so fun!) to the smaller panel and glued it to the pop-up. Make sure there’s a little gap between the card base and the panel so it opens easily.

Thanks for scrolling to the end!

Here’s a cute photo of Musa, 9 months old, and pulling himself up to see what his big brother is doing instead of playing with him. Noah is definitely Musa’s favorite playmate. It’s just going to get more interesting as they both grow older, don’t you think?
