Beautiful birthday easel card featuring Very Versailles by Stampin' Up!

Are you ready for a really fun challenge? I love the one that just starting today at Make My Monday – “Use the Baby Wipe Technique.” If you haven’t tried it before, this tutorial will help you but it’s not hard! I hadn’t done it in a few years so I really enjoyed doing it for this card, using some stamp sets that I just love. The branch of leaves in Very Versailles stamp set was the perfect choice to show just how stunning this technique is!

My secrets to making this Quiet Meadow project

  • My card wasn’t initially going to be an easel card but I stamped three panels to make sure I got a good one. I loved how the leaves turned out so much that I decided to use two of them.
  • This card is a 6″ square easel card. To make the base, you just need to have a 12″x6″ piece of cardstock, and score at 3″ and 6.” The card front is just a 6″ square, which I decided to make with Whisper White instead of Cinnamon Cider to brighten it up a bit. (Secret: Don’t have 12″x12″ cardstock? You can easily make a square easel card by using 8 1/2″x11″ and cutting it to 5 1/2″x11″ and scoring at 5 1/2.”)

Card Details

  • Baby wipe technique: I placed a few baby wipes flat into a plastic container, then added drops of ink from four colors (listed below) randomly around the wipes until it was adequately covered.
  • Once I completed the stamping on the front panel, I cut it down to a 5″ square, then backed it with the In Good Taste DSP, then both were adhered to the new Color Velveteen paper in the new annual catalog. I had no problem adhering anything to it at all! Then, I adhered this to the Whisper White panel to complete the card front base.
  • The sentiment was stamped in Cinnamon Cider ink and cropped out with the Hippo & Friends dies. I wanted something behind it but didn’t want to cover too much of the pretty leaves. So, I colored one of the vellum doilies with a Cinnamon Cider Stampin’ Blends pen. I adhered two more doilies behind it with adhesive spray and placed it onto the card front.
  • Still needing a little something on the front, I stamped the butterfly from Positive Thoughts with the baby wipes and cropped it out with its coordinating die from Nature’s Thoughts dies.
  • To do the inside of the card, I made the panels just like the card front. Then, I stamped the sentiment from Best Year stamp set and cropped it out with Stitched Shapes and backed it with the designer paper cropped with the Ornate Frames die.
  • The trick with an easel card is that something has to hold the card front panel up, so the inside sentiment is popped up with dimensionals.
  • I cut two pieces of ribbon and adhered it under the sentiment and then added some enamel dots on both the front and inside.
