Garden Birdhouses Birthday Card by Secrets To Stamping

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

This month, the theme is “Wonderful Cards/Projects from the Garden” where our design team showcase projects from things found in a garden, such as flowers, vegetables, fruits, or even a garden scene. We really hope that you enjoy and will be inspired by them! As you hop from blog to blog, don’t forget to leave comments because we love hearing from you. Once you finish here, you will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

My card for you today is such a fun card to make! Firstly, if you follow me at all, you know that I like to make fun fold cards (the easy ones)! When my friend, Mandy Lathrop, showed me a wonderful card that she created – super fun and lots of wow – I knew I wanted to try it! To begin, all I needed was a stamp set that fit the garden theme and I chose Garden Birdhouses, since I just love anything related to birds.

My secrets to making this Quiet Meadow project

  • Firstly, Mandy gave me the link to Lisa Curcio’s video to make this card. However, I changed up the dimensions by making my card into a 6″ square card.
  • Card Dimensions:
    • Card Base: 12″ x 6″ and scored at 6″
    • After that, I cut 1 1/4″ panels from each end of the front of the card.
    • Card Front Panels:
      • Cardstock: 1″ x 5 3/4″ (2)
      • DSP: 7/8″ x 5 5/8″ (2)
      • Cardstock: 3 1/4″ x 5 3/4″
      • DSP: 3 1/8″ x 5 5/8″
    • Inside Panels:
      • Cardstock: 1″x5 3/4″ (2)
      • DSP: 3 1/4″x 5 5/8″ (2)
      • Cardstock: 5 3/4″x5 3/4″
      • DSP: 1″x5 5/8″
    • Window Sheet: cut to 6″x 1 1/2″

Now, the FUN Part!

  • Firstly, I assembled the panels, which probably wasn’t the smartest move for this card, therefore I would advise you to do your stamping first LOL!
  • After that, I stamped the birdhouses and birds onto thick white cardstock and colored them. Then, I fussy cut them out and adhered them on the side panels. Once those were in place, I decided to add a third birdhouse and hang it with baker’s twine .
  • To finish the card front, I placed the window sheet at the bottom, then stamped the sentiment and cut it out with the Tasteful Labels dies. After that, I cut a banner from a scrap of the designer paper, cut it in half and glued it to the sentiment before popping it up with dimensionals.

Card Inside

  • Next, onto the inside, I placed more cardstock and designer paper and stamped the flower border.
  • Then, I got the idea to do the top of the inside and stamped the sentiment to the bottom of the center panel. If I had that idea beforehand, I probably would have put all of the DSP panels on the top and put the stamped flowers on the bottom. What do you think??

More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team, because the Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop on August 11th. Our theme will be “My Happiest Season” when our Design Team creates a project showcase projects inspired by their favorite season of the year. Until then, have fun in your craft space.
