Welcoming Woods Thank You Card by Secrets To Stamping

Sisterhood of Crafters starts a new challenge today – “Give thanks.” This challenge is great for two reasons to me. Firstly, it’s November so those of us in the USA will be celebrating Thanksgiving. Secondly, who doesn’t need to keep a stash of thank you cards ready for giving? While going through my stash of stamps that I keep out for the season, I found Welcoming Woods, which is new in the catalog so I haven’t used it yet. Doesn’t it seem like the perfect time to use it? I really wanted to see if the background stamp would good as a water feature and it does!

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Sisterhood of Crafters Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My secrets to making this Quiet Meadow project

  • This 5-1/2″ square card used Thick white cardstock, cut to 11″ x 5-1/2″ and scored at 5-1/2.”
  • Then, the rest of the card was done working from the inside out, which sometimes spells disaster for me, but love how it turned out for this one!

Now, the FUN Part!

  • Firstly, I stamped the trees in Early Espresso ink, then, using my stamparatus, I placed the background stamp where I wanted it and stamped with pool party and balmy blue inks. I’m so happy that it went well the first time!
  • Then, I did something that I am usually scared to death to do – I cut the last leaf off of the leaves stamp so I could be precise in stamping my leaves on the trees. (yes, I know that’s a tiny bit OCD, so don’t feel like you need to cut yours!)
  • After that, I took out my spongin’ brayer and inked up the sky with Balmy Blue and a smidge of Crumb Cake inks. Then, I added Blushing Bride ink to the horizon with a blending brush.
  • Once I was happy with that, I cut it into a 4″ square and layered it onto Early Espresso cardstock. Then, I found a fun die that was perfect for framing it, which I did with Old Olive cardstock.
  • To “anchor” the panel to the card base, I cut a piece of Cinnamon Cider cardstock and embossed it with the Pinewood Plank embossing folder. I sponged the ends before adhering it to the card base.
  • Before adhering the main panel to the card base with dimensionals, I stamped the little birds from Mountain Air for a little life as well as adding the Crumb Cake baker’s twine.
  • Finally, I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso ink, cutting it into a banner and popping it up with dimensionals.
  • Stamp Sets: welcoming woods, mountain air
  • Papers: old olive, early espresso, cinnamon cider, Thick White
  • Inks: early espresso, balmy blue, cinnamon cider, crumb cake
  • Tools: pinewood planks tief,
  • Accessories: bakers twine essential pack,
