How ironic that I made this card using the cute Snow Day Stamp Set on the first day we get snow for the season! I find that so funny! What do you think? I really don’t believe in coincidences but I guess you can’t consider cardmaking to be more than that. Oh, well… onto my card!
This card was made for the PPA challenge this week. I tried something different with this card. I layered embossing powders! Have you tried that yet? First, I embossed the snowman in Smoky Slate, then I added his arms in Early Espresso and his carrot nose in Tangerine Tango. I really like how it turned out and it allowed me to sponge the background in Night of Navy and Pool Party. I just added a few snowflakes (or are they stars??) with some rhinestones and it was done.
Tip of the Day: Layering the embossing powders looks great! Just make sure that you give enough time for the embossing powder to harden before going onto the next color.

Well, I hope you like my card today! If you do, would you please leave me a comment? How much snow do you get during this season? Grand Rapids has been very unpredictable for the last few years, so I really don’t know what to expect this season. Our average, I believe, is in the neighborhood of 70″, but it is usually an inch or two at a time so it really doesn’t seem like it. I love the snow – as long as I don’t have to drive while it is falling! It is so pretty and I like it better than rain.
I hope you are enjoying your Fall weather and would love to hear from you! Till next time,
Keep calm and craft on!
Yay! My card won the “Cut Above” award!
The Road to Happiness stamp set is great for the challenge on The Paper Players this week to make a CAS masculine card. I enjoy making masculine cards so there was no question about playing along. The card started with distressing Early Espresso and Cajun Craze cardstock for a more rugged look. Then it was time to create the cute car. Isn’t that little convertible adorable? I heat embossed it with Cajun Craze ink and clear embossing powder (to make it all nice and shiny like a car should look!), then it was fussy cut and popped up with dimensionals. Lovely as a Tree is one of the oldest stamp sets in the Stampin’ Up! catalog and the reason for that is simple – it is the perfect background for scenic cards. I again embossed the trees with Crumb Cake and clear embossing powder so that watercoloring the grass and the sky would be easier. Gorgeous Grunge made the road under the car and I totally had to use “Yippee Skippee” for the sentiment because that is exactly what I would be feeling riding in that car!
I just have to show you the inside of my card. The inside sentiment just continues the feeling that the card front was portraying:
