Best of Autumn for The Paper Players and Mojo Monday

Best of Autumn

Hello!

I chose the pretty leaf from Best of Autumn for The Paper Players #172 Challenge this week.  I have been wanting to use it and their challenge is to use a leaf in your card.  Then, when I saw the sketch challenge for Mojo Monday, one of the blogs that I love to follow and participate in (now that I have a blog!), I knew that the two challenges would be perfect together.  At least, in theory!  I have a confession to make – CAS (clean and simple) is definitely what I would call a challenge.  I just don’t know when enough is enough.  I always want to continue adding details, texture, embellishments, etc.  I know some fantastic stampers, who do them all of the time.  How do they do it??

Ok, it’s time to tell you about my card.  I started by choosing Sweater Weather DSP for the background, which is another departure for me since I gravitate to the deeper colors.  The card base is Soft Sky, so pretty with the DSP.  Sahara Sand is a very cool neutral, which I used to mat the DSP for a little color interest.  So Saffron, such a soft yellow, is the natural subtle color to complete the palette.  I chose Neutral Candy Dots, then layered a couple of buttons over the beautiful twine from the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit.  I really hope they keep that twine around!  It is just different enough from the Linen Thread and matches the Sahara Sand perfectly.  The sentiment from Harvest of Thanks added to the classic layout and was easily made due to the Bitty Banner Framelit.

It’s All in the Details

  • Stamp Set: Best of Autumn, Harvest of Thanks
  • Paper: Sweater Weather DSP, Soft Sky, So Saffon, Sahara Sand, Whisper White
  • Ink: So Saffon, Sahara Sand
  • Cool Tools:  Bitty Banners Framelits
  • Finishing Touch: Neutrals Candy Dots, Subtles Designer Buttons, Twine from Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit

So, tell me the truth – how did I do with my CAS card?  It is always fun to do something totally different once in a while, so I enjoyed making this card today.  I will keep working at it and maybe it will get easier!  If you liked my card today, would you take a moment and leave me a comment?  Come back to see my next project on Thursday!  Until then,

Keep  calm and craft on!
