Summer Silhouette for Mojo Monday

Summer Silhouettes, Best of Sale-A-Bration 2

Summer Silhouettes was a surprise for me! Have you ever done that? I was placing an order on the first day that the new catalog went live. I was half asleep (the catalog goes live at 2:00 AM in the Eastern Time Zone) but I had my list all ready to go. I zipped right through it and clicked the “submit” button without checking it because I didn’t want to second-guess my choices (or the cost of expedited shipping!) and just really wanted to crawl back into bed for just a few more hours of sleep.  When I got my order the next day (worth the extra money!) I just knew that Demonstrator Support made an error because Summer Silhouettes wasn’t a new stamp set and it arrived in wood – I always get clear.  So I checked my order and, of course, Demo Support didn’t make the mistake, I did. I was one number off of a new item. I thought, “Oh well, at least I don’t have it” and kept it.  It has taken me awhile to bring it out (almost 3 months) because I really don’t enjoy putting the wood stamp sets together.  Oh my goodness, what took me so long? I now LOVE this stamp set. It will definitely get a work-out from me in the future! It is so fresh and airy, don’t you think? I will be submitting this card to the Mojo Monday challenge this week. It looked like such a fun sketch to try!

I started this card by picking my colors. I chose Midnight Muse and Summer Starfruit first – I totally love those two together. Then Wild Wasabi jumped out at me. I was looking at Quatrefancy Specialty DSP and couldn’t find the paper that I wanted but that window sheet really got me thinking so I grabbed that and then layered it with the Midnight Muse ribbon. Of course, I can’t make a card without texture anymore (totally addicted to my embossing folders) so the Modern Mosaic embossing folder was the only one that really made the window sheet look coordinated.  I then stamped my leaves and flowers, and used the Best of Sale-A-Bration stamp set to make the sentiment.  This stamp set is still available and will always be in my collection! I made this card so quickly – love it when that happens!

So, life has got me running this week! I wonder if you noticed my new header at the top of my blog. I am excited to see something brighter, aren’t you?  We are starting the next Polar Vortex (our last???) and it is getting so cold again. My craft room sure has been getting more activity with this weather, so I can’t complain TOO much!

If you liked my card today and would like to have a chance to win a nice BIG box of blog candy, please leave me a comment and tell me what you hope is in my blog candy! Don’t delay, Friday is the last day! Till next time,

Happy Stampin’!

  1. Great job on the challenge, Debbie! I totally love that stamp set and the color combination that you chose! And it looks like your blog has already received the new updated header! Very pretty and spring-y!!! I am wishing an early Spring for you (and for just about everyone in the country, LOL!)

P.S. Did you color the Shop button to match this card? Or did the button inspire your color choice…. sweet! 🙂

  2. Debbie, This card is so pretty. I love everything about this card. Isn’t it funny when you get a great surprise like you did when you opened your box of new things. WOW this is so pretty. Nice Job. Thank you for sharing. Ellen Hinds
