By the Seashore and Tide

By the Tide, By the Seashore, Apothecary Art

This card is perfect for my family right now because we would just love to be By the Tide and By the Seashore! I love to make nautical cards, and surely they are my favorite scrapbooks pages to make as well. I really love this color combination and you have definitely seen me use it before. It is just the perfect summer palette, don’t you think? I am submitting this card to The Paper Players challenge this week. With a challenge that is this much fun, why don’t you play along, too?

This card started with using Crisp Cantaloupe core’dinations cardstock (unfortunately, it was retired but regular cardstock would work as well) with the Decorative Dots embossing folder then sanded just a little. The crab and shell were stamped and colored with the new flesh toned Blendabilities. If you don’t have those yet, you could definitely use your Crisp Cantaloupe marker or the blender pen, of course, but I love how the “Blendies” color and thought they were a very good match. The fish was stamped in Coastal Cabana and then the shell and fish were fuzzy cut. The sentiment was stamped in Baked Brown Sugar, trimmed and ends were flagged with the hexagon punch, then layered on the Burlap and Chevron ribbons. Did you notice my pearls? They were colored with the Blendies! I love how they turned out! I also roughed up the edges of each of the layers with the distressing tool. In a last minute decision, I stamped the coral onto the crab to keep the card on the rustic side. What do you think? Should I have left it off??

  1. I like your card! You asked about the coral. My first thought, before I even scrolled down enough to see the whole card, was that I loved the coral “behind” the crab! I don’t know what it looked like without the coral, but I like it with!

(The picture that comes up with my comment is my husband. Whatever it is that allows these comments, he is the one who has an account and it is linked to our email address.)

  2. Just love your card!! You really worked in the rustic look with the burlap and chevron ribbons. I like how you stamped over the crab with the coral….makes it look truly rustic. I think that if you had just had the crab, it wouldn’t have looked as complete as it does with the way you applied the coral.

  3. I do love these colors and I’m missing the ocean more than ever! I think my favorite effect is the worn edges of the paper. Really makes it look authentic. Great look!

  4. This is just stunning, Debbie! I really love that you used some non-traditional colors…really, really love that background! I always like how you think outside the box! Thanks for sharing this with us at The Paper Players!

  5. Love this card, Debbie! Your color choices and keeping with the theme are exquisite! Thanks for playing with the Paper Players!
