Season of Chic Quilt Card for the Alphabet Challenge

Hi, Stampers!

The Alphabet Challenge is ready for the next letter – “Q is for Quilt.” Firstly, this challenge is wonderful for using up scraps and I just know that you have a pile of them somewhere! Because my pile was getting totally out of hand, I made you two cards – one with cardstock and another with designer paper. Although this could be used for any occasion and any stamp set would make it fun, I chose my favorite from the annual catalog, Season of Chic.

I made one with squares and another with a tag punch that is now sadly retired. Please note that, because these cards were made from the inside out, their sides are not standard ones. It would be very easy for you to recreate both of these in standard sizes though by adjusting the panel sizes. Which card do you prefer – I’d love to hear in a comment!

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My secrets!

Card #1

  • Card base is 8-1/8″ x 5-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/16″
  • 1-1/2″ squares (3) of 4 colors, I cut each one in half then glued them onto cardstock cut at 3″ x 4-1/2″ then ran it through the Tasteful Textiles embossing folder for a little texture. After that, I glued the panel down onto white cardstock cut at 3-1/8″ x 4-5/8″
  • Next, I cut Mossy Meadow cardstock to 3-7/8″ x 5-3/8″ and adhered it to the card base and added the quilt panel with dimensionals for even more dimension.
  • Since I didn’t want to cover the pretty background, I made the focal image very simple with the sentiment from Season of Chic that was stamped in Old Olive ink and cut into a banner. Then, I layered it onto Old Olive cardstock that was also cut into a banner.
  • After that, I stamped the leaf with Pear Pizzazz ink and cut it out with the coordinating die. Then, I cut out the leaf shapes from cardstocks (more scraps!).
  • After popping up the sentiment and gluing down the leaves, I added just a few gold pearls.

Card #2

  • Card base: white cardstock cut to 4-7/16″ x 11-1/2″ and scored at 5-3/4″
  • Distressed Gold paper cut to 4-1/4″ x 5-5/16″
  • Firstly, I punched out all of the shapes from the Season of Chic paper and made a random pattern with them. Then, I glued them down, cutting them into the spots I chose.
  • After that, I stamped the “Let’s Celebrate” from Splendid Thoughts and cropped it out with the same punch. Then, I punched more Distressed Gold paper and paper pieced it around the sentiment.
  • Once the sentiment was glued together, I took the the retired Gold Forever Greenery Trim, looping it into a loose bow, fraying the ends a bit. Then, I popped the sentiment over it.

I’m sharing my card with these challenges:

  5. Wow! Both are gorgeous! But I’m always partial to the greens, so the green wins. Great idea for using up scraps!
