Autumn Lazy Days Card for the HLS Die Challenge

Autumn Lazy Days Card by Secrets To Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Happy Little Stampers Die Challenge starts today, and the theme is always Anything Goes with Dies. Since we are at the beginning of autumn, which happens to be my most favorite season, my card is reflecting the beautiful colors of the season. As soon as I saw this DSP, I knew that I’d be using it with this wonderful Lazy Days bundle. They really go together, in my opinion!

Once you finish here, I hope you visit the HLS Die Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this was such an easy card to make, and I decided to make it a 5-1/2″ square card to use as much of that gorgeous designer paper as possible. If you’d rather make an A2 card, that would work totally fine as well.
  • So, first I cut the white cardstock to 5-1/2″ x 11″ and scored it at 5-1/2.”
  • Then, I cut the Early Espresso cardstock to 5-1/4″ x 5-1/4″ and layered the All About Autumn designer paper onto it after cutting it down to 5-1-8″ x 5-1/8.”
  • After that, I cut the bottom piece of All About Autumn designer paper at 5-1/8″ x 1-1/4″ and adhere to the bottom of the DSP.

And now, the fun part!

  • Once that was done, I started stamping the chair (then colored with Wild Wheat) and rug images and cut them out with their coordinating dies.
  • Then, I stamped the little table with Early Espresso ink and colored it with the Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends marker. After that, I colored the liquid in the glasses with Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends marker.
  • I was going to leave it there but then I decided to die cut another chair (which doesn’t have a stamp to go with it, unfortunately) with Crumb Cake cardstock.
  • Before adhering them down to the card base, I cut out two of the railings with the die, cutting the left one just a bit to create an entrance to the porch. SECRET: I added dimension to the rocking chair on the right as well as the table at the top of the image only and just added glue at the bottom. This helped them from looking like they were suspended in mid-air!
  • Finally, I stamped the two sentiments onto a scrap of white cardstock and cut it out with a nice frame die from the Meadow dies.

Then, on the inside…

  • Finally, the inside was completed by making an Early Espresso cardstock, cut to 5-1/4″ x 5-1/4″ and white cardstock, cut to 5-1/8″ x 5-1/8″.
  • Then, I stamped the pretty image on the top (what would you call that??), the rocking chair and the planter on the cardstock in Early Espresso ink. Once that was done, I colored the rocking chair and planter with Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends and the leaves with Old Olive Stampin’ Blends.

I’m sharing my card with these challenges:

  1. What a wonderful combination of paper and stamping. It’s an amazing scene that you’ve created. Thanks for sharing with us at Allsorts challenge.

  2. This card is chock full of great details! I love the way you stamped and die cut one of the rockers and then used the other rocker die to die cut another rocker! And the rug and little table with 2 glasses on it are so cute! You’ve really created a wonderful, cozy scene in the foreground and a gorgeous fall backdrop using that DSP! The inside has a sweet little scene, too! And I’m not sure what to call that top stamp, either! Maybe it’s supposed to be the top of a pergola? It makes a lovely decoration in any case!

Hope the potty training is going well!

  3. Love your design. I can’t believe the DSP is gone again today! I had it in an order yesterday but didn’t hit the send button. Noah has quite an area in which to play! Good luck with the potty training. Hopefully he’ll catch on quickly.

  4. A really beautiful card Debbie, love how you finished the inside too! Noah looks like he’s having lots of fun with his train set.
Thanks so much for sharing at my Crafty Wednesday challenge this month!

  5. What a gorgeous card. Would never have thought to put the rocking chair scene on this DSP. Thank you for sharing.

  6. I love the Autumn scene for the background and the railings are perfect to create that distance for the porch. Beautiful scene.

So glad you joined us at Die Cut Divas. Arlene with the Die Cut Divas

  7. I can picture myself on that porch! It’s a fun mix of stamps and dies and a very photo like paper. Thanks for sharing with us at Try it on Tuesday!
