Paper Pumpkin December 2023 Alternative Cards

Hi, Stampers!

A new year and a new Paper Pumpkin Kit to play with, this one was just so pretty to create with. I don’t know where you live, but I am now in my second winter in Chicago. Although the temperature is warmer here than where I lived in Michigan, it’s just as cloudy, I’m sad to say. It does make you appreciative when the sun does finally come out. I bring that up because the Paper Pumpkin kit looks so much like spring, I could almost feel the warm sun on my face.

So, I have made three alternative cards with the kit and still have plenty of supplies left to make even more!

My Secrets!

Card #1

  • The first card uses one of the card bases, but I turned it inside out. I left it simple and will add more when I decide to use it.
  • I used another card base with the pretty flowers, and cut it to 4 x 5-1/4, and glued it to the card base.
  • Then, I cut the pretty envelope down to 3-1/4 x 4-1/4 and cut it to the same size. Once that was done, I popped them up with dimensionals. Also, I popped up one of the flowers from the kit and added the sweet gems.
  • Finally, I added the Balmy Blue ribbon, tied it into a knot, and adhered it to the focal image.

Card #2

  • Firstly, I made a card base with white cardstock, cut to 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 and scored at 4-1/4.
  • After that, I cut the gold panel from the kit with a Deckled Rectangle die.
  • To accent the gold floral images, I decided to use the Autumn DSP, so I cut it to 3-7/8 x 5-1/8 and layered onto black cardstock, cut to 5-1/4 x 4.
  • Then, I stamped the kit’s sentiment with black ink onto one of the banners from the kit that I trimmed 1/2.”
  • Finally, I added one of the gold flowers and some gold trim that was tied into a bow. Lastly, I added some Festive Pearls to the centers of the flowers.

Card #3

  • Firstly, I folded the pretty card base inside out again and cut the front of the card base 1-1/4″ from the edge. Then, I cut the leftover card base that I had from the first card and cut another 1-1/4″ from that one. Both of these pieces were adhered to the card front.
  • After that, I stamped the sentiment onto the round sentiment piece in Pebbled Path ink and added the two floral pieces onto the edge.
  • Then, to bling it up a bit, I added the gems that came with the kit and the dragonflies (NEW! Item #162743) to the front and the inside, as well.
  • Finally, I added the square banner to the inside.

So, tell me honestly, do you subscribe to Paper Pumpkin? If so, do you like the alternative cards I showed today? And, if you don’t subscribe, would today’s cards make it easier for you to think about subscribing? Even though I don’t purchase a lot of kits, I do like the thought of doing something just a little different than what the kits show. You really can be creative with a kit. Kits keep your supplies on hand much lower and you keep the exclusive stamps if you want.

I’m sharing my card with these challenges:

  1. A Place To Start
  2. The Paper Funday
  3. A Perfect Time to Craft

  1. Calvin & Hobbes…that was my son’s favorite, along with Gary Larson. He had book after book. You have card after card that are, indeed, heart warming. It doesn’t seem like two years to me that you’ve been in your new home. Perhaps because it took awhile for your craft room to take shape…lol! Thank you for playing with us at Pammie’s Inky Pinkies and happy 2024 to you and your family.

  2. Debbie, your alternative cards for this Paper Pumpkin kit are gorgeous! I love these designs and feel a CASE coming on!! I hope your day is not as bad as the cartoon. Enjoy your day!

  3. I love your alternative projects from the December Paper Pumpkin. And this paper Pumpkin is so nice. All the Paper Pumpkins are so beautiful. Thanks for sharing with us.

  4. All of these cards are gorgeous, and if I didn’t already have enough craft supplies to last me a lifetime, I’d definitely be tempted by that PP kit! That last card in the series is my favorite as I really love the layout and the wreath of flowers you created around the circle die cut. So pretty!

  5. I subscribe to Paper Pumpkin and am always looking for creative alternatives (love your ideas). I may or may not do the cards that were designed for the kit.
