Citrus Blooms Faux Step Card for the Alphabet Challenge

Create this card using Citrus Blooms by Stampin' Up! DebbieMageed SecretsToStamping #StampinUp #FunFold #stampinup

Hi, Stampers!

A new Alphabet Challenge starts today with the theme “F is for Fruit” so get out all your delicious fruit stamps to play along! This theme tipped me off the fence about whether to buy this set. Ultimately, I purchased the Citrus Blooms dies and Mediterranean Blooms designer paper since I won’t have to color the fruit in the stamp set. The fruit on the designer paper looks so real, don’t you think?

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this card measures 5-1/2 x 6. So, to start the main card base, I cut the cardstock to 10 x 6 and scored it at 1, 2, and 6.
  • Then, I made the faux step card base with cardstock cut to 7-1/2 x 4 and scored it at 2. I had decided that this piece didn’t have to cover the entire back, so I made it just long enough in the back to tuck under the back panel.
  • DSP Panels:
    • Main Card Base: 5-3/4 x 3-3/4 and 5-3/4 x 3/4
    • Back Card Base: 5-3/4 x 3-3/4 and 1-3/8 x 3-3/4
  • After cutting all the pieces, I adhered the designer papers to their respective card bases. After finishing the details, then I adhered the card bases together.

And now, the fun part!

  • OK, so you know that this card came together quickly because the only stamping I did was to stamp the sentiments on the front and back!
  • Once the card base was done, I cut the pretty die background, which is three separate pieces. Once I lined them up onto the white cardstock, I cut them all at once. Then, I dotted liquid glue all over and glued it to the front panel.
  • After that, I cut the designer paper with the three oranges with the coordinating die. Then, I cut some white cardstock with the same die and glued them together. Once that was done, I popped it up with dimensionals onto the front panel.
  • I stamped the sentiment from Country Birdhouse with navy ink and cropped it out after putting it onto the foam adhesive. Before placing it onto the panel, I added a baker’s twine bow.
  • Finally, I added the champagne dots onto the centers of the flowers.

Then, on the back …

  • I have a secret to share with you – don’t waste the beautiful images on designer paper when they are on the edge! I cut out one of them from the designer paper and just added it to the corner and love how it turned out!
  • Finally, I inked another sentiment from Country Birdhouse in navy ink directly to the white cardstock and added a champagne dot to the flower to finish the card.
