Stampin’ Up! Scenic Adventure Beside Me for the Inspiration Station

Create this card using Scenic Adventure by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets to Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

Are you ready for a new Inspiration Station Challenge? We have an inspiration photo for you! I grabbed my Beside Me stamp set (sniff—retiring and 50% off!) and paired it with the brand new Scenic Adventure bundle. Why? I’m creating a Father’s Day card for my sweet grandson to give to his dad, my son Adam. Adam and his wife are avid mountain hikers, so these dies felt like the perfect tribute to their adventures. I love when a card tells a story all its own!

Your interpretation of the inspirational photo is your own so let your creativity flow! Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this A2 card started with Gray Granite cardstock, cut to 11 x 4-1/4 and scored at 5-1/2.
  • After that, I used white cardstock cut to 4 x 5-1/4 and began making layers with papers to create the scene. I used the Everyday Skies patterned paper behind the mountain that was cut from the Scenic Adventure dies, sponging them with Gray Granite ink.
  • Then, I followed it with the trees cut from Mossy Meadow cardstock. I wasn’t sure what the backdrop should be for the image, but decided on Country Lace patterned paper, since it kinda looks like a cement driveway for biking riding.
  • Finally, I cut Granny Apple cardstock with the grassy die.

And now, the fun part!

  • The image was stamped in black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends. Once it was done, I cropped it out with my new favorite dies, Textured Notes.
  • Once that was ready, I glued it down first, then added the grassy die cut across the bottom of the card.
  • Then, I stamped the Beside Me sentiment in Gray Granite ink and cropped it out with the small Stylish Shapes banner die, cropping off one end to align the edge with the panel.

I hope to share my card with these challenges:
