Hi, Stampers!

Are you ready for a new Inspiration Station Challenge? We’ve got a brand new photo to get the wheels turning for your next card. Wow, I love this photo and it made me search for a die that was in my stash to create a beach scene. This is the first time I used it and it was lots of fun. I brought out the retired Paradise Palms stamp set with coordinating dies from my stash, then added a few items from the current Sunrise Sailing bundle to create this pretty beach scene.
What part of the inspiration photo speaks to your creative soul? I’d love to see how it sparks your interpretation of the Inspirational Photo so let your creativity flow! Check out the Inspiration Station gallery and jump in—it’s more fun with you there!

My Secrets!
Let’s start with the card base…
- Firstly, I had to cut the beach die in a few colors so I could mix and match them together. In the end, I only used three of them and used ink to add more depth of color to the scene.
- After choosing the colors and adding more color with Blending Brushes, I glued them to an A2 sheet of white cardstock. I’m not sure you will be able to see that I used layers of most of the pieces to build the scene. I did this to make sense that the large puddle of water was lower on the sand. Make sense? I hope so!
- And the other detail was adding Whisper White ink on the edges of the water to look a bit like the white of the waves.
- The last detail to the background was experimenting with color splatters. I have never been able to get it the way other crafters do, but adding water to a drop of ink and tapping it over each of the pieces (before gluing them to the white panel) did pretty good, IMHO.
And now, the fun part!
- So, that was actually the first fun part of the card, but then I had to complete the scene. I didn’t stamp the little palm trees with an ink pad; I colored the different parts of the little group of palm trees with Early Espresso and Garden Green markers. The large palm tree was two different stamps, so it was easy to stamp and then crop out all of the palm trees with my die cutting machine. Then, to give them more dimension, I cut them out again in white cardstock and glued together.
- Trees are nice but I really do love adding a little life to the card, so I found in my retired nautical stash the cute little pelican in Early Espresso ink and added a bit of Crumb Cake ink and white pencil to try to make him not “yellow” but I think he’s still a bit yellow. Oh, well!
- Finally, to finish off this nautical card, I used the bird die and sentiment from Sunrise Sailing bundle, both are Early Espresso. The sentiment banner was doubled up for more strength and popped up with dimensionals.
I hope to share my card with these challenges:
