Stampin’ Up! Trusty Tools for the Let’s Craft & Create Challenge

Create this card using Trusty Tools by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets to Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Let’s Craft and Create Challenge starts today, and the challenge this month is to use Polka Dots and/or Stripes. I went through my current papers and really didn’t find anything I could use. Then, I remembered the die in the Trusty Tools bundle and thought it would be perfect to create the polka dots to create a masculine card. Trusty Tools has been around a few years, but I always used the designer paper since it was easy to make a card quickly. So, this time I used the images from the stamp set with the dies, and I had so much fun! This bundle is great for any handyman (or wannabe) in your life and it’s still available. My card will go to our handyman, who does great work for us. If you want a closer look, I have links at the end of my post to take you to the online store.

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this A2 top-folding card started with Crushed Curry cardstock, cut to 11 x 4-1/4 and scored at 5-1/2.
  • Then, to create the pegboard, I took the die and cut it twice on the white cardstock, cut to 3-7/8 x 5-1/8 and layered onto Night of Navy cardstock, cut to 4 x 5-1/4.

And now, the fun part!

  • Once that was done, I stamped all of the tools that I wanted to use with Secret Sea ink. I let it dry and started coloring them with Smoky Slate and Darling Duck Stampin’ Blends since we don’t have Crushed Curry ones. Once that was done, I cut them out with their coordinating dies.
  • Then, I couldn’t resist bringing out the retired paper to use the measuring tape patterned paper as the anchor for the Thank You sentiment.
  • Finally, I brought out the retired Classic Garage Metal Elements and Underground Urban Embellishments for some masculine bling.

I hope to share my card with these challenges:

We spent the day in Lake Geneva, WI, with my sweet daughter, Sarah. The weather was beautiful, and we had the best time together! It’s hard not living closer to her because she really is my best friend (just don’t tell my husband).
