Stampin’ Up Autumn Trees Card for the Fun Fold Blog Hop

Welcome to the Fun Folds Blog Hop with Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators!!

Hi, Stampers! Fun folds make every handmade card extra special, and today’s blog hop is FULL of great ideas! You’re in for a treat if you’re looking for a unique way to surprise someone or just want to try something new. I’ve teamed up with very creative SU demonstrators to bring you a lineup of creative, must-try designs. My card today is a fun fold called a “flying seagull” and I have made quite a few at this point. This time I needed this fun fold because I used the large tree die from Autumn Trees. The tree is beautiful and I love the sweet little deer in the dies. I paired it with the Autumn Toile paper to make a great fall card.

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Here is a link to the Flying Seagull card I made with the same dimensionals last March. When folded for mailing, the card is 5-1/2 square.
  • Card Base: 8-1/4 x 5-1/2 (you need two) and score them both at 2-1/4, 4, 6-1/4
  • Center Panel: Cardstock and DSP: 5-1/2 x 4-1/4
  • Outside Panels: DSP: 5-1/4 x 2 (2)
  • Middle Panels: DSP: 5-1/4 x 1-1/2 (2)
  • Inside Panels: DSP: 5-1/4 x 2 (2) (optional)
  • Secret: I wrote the measurements of the panels on each piece so I made sure that the 2-1/4″ panels were on the outside and the 2″ panel was glued to the focal panel.

Now, the FUN Part!

  • Firstly, I cut out tree with cardstock then began cutting Splendid Autumn DSP with the leaves dies from two different papers. I wanted my tree to reflect the beginning of autumn which is my favorite time of the year. I cut all of the leaves apart so I could attach them where I wanted, using glue dots.
  • Then, I cut the sweet deer with more Splendid Autumn paper and colored the deer with the Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blends to make them a little darker than the ground. I popped it up with dimensionals over the tree and added the Metallic Gems for some sparkle. Once that was done, to add a little more life to the scene, I added the Bird embellishments.
  • The outer panels needed a little something, so I thought this was the perfect time to try the Metallic Textures Rub-ons. Wow, they were so easy to use! Once I had them rubbed onto the Splendid Autumn paper, I cut them out with a small Everyday Arches die.

Then, on the back…

  • Of course, you need a place to write a little message, so I used the new Foiled Frames & Labels Ephemera Pack. I stamped the sentiment in Mossy Meadow and added more leaves cut from the leaves die to finish it off.
