Hello Stampers!! The multi-talented Nance is hosting a wonderful challenge for you all this week – CAS Watercolor challenge. I chose Bloom with Hope for my card today because that is exactly what I feel – blooming with hope that I don’t mess up the two scariest words in stamping for me: “Watercolor” and “CAS”! Talk about a challenge!! It was a double-fister for me. I will not go into all of the messes I made before making this card. In the end, I decided to go the less stressful route and use my trusty blender pen with my absolute favorite colors, which also happen to be retiring soon. I will certainly be very excited to see what wonderful colors that Stampin’ Up! has in store for us but mourning the loss of five favorite In-Colors at the same time.
There is not much to say about this card since it is pretty CAS, especially for me. I started out deciding and cutting all of the layers with Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe and Shimmer White paper. I don’t get Shimmer White paper out very often and I really should! It isn’t Whisper White white nor is it Very Vanilla but somewhere in between with such a nice shimmer in it. After watercoloring the images, I separated some Coastal Cabana Baker’s Twine to make a ribbon of sorts and tied it into a bow. Simple but pretty!!
IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS
- Stamp Sets: Bloom with Hope, Crazy about You
- Paper: Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Shimmer White
- Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Coastal Cabana
- SU Tools: Word Window Punch
- Finishing Touch: Coastal Cabana Baker’s Twine
I hope you’ll stop by and check out the rest of the Design Team inspiration over at The Paper Players. We would love for you to join us before the challenge closes on Friday, April 24th at Noon (PDT).

Debbie, this is beautiful! It’s CAS but I can still see your style in it. Lovely mix of colors and love how you’ve separated the baker’s twine. We never would have known this was a double-fister for you….you rocked it!
Nance’s comments are spot on! Great card, Debbie!
Very, very nice….love the composition.
Your flowers are beautiful, but what caught my eye was the TWINE….soooooo cool!
Hello Debbie: I want to thank you so much for visiting my blog and for your sweet words for the card I made for the Retro Rubber Challenge. I’m so new at blogging, only 4 short months, I still have a lot to learn and some rough edges to smooth out but I’m having a great time in the process.
I love your sweet card, water coloring is my favorite medium. Last year a friend sent me a U tube video on how to color with Prismacolor pencils and Baby Oil using paper stumps, well, needless to say, I was hooked, it’s a fun way to color and it’s super easy to do. You can Google “coloring with baby oil” or “the baby oil technique” and you will find a lot of awesome information.
Anyway, I’m so happy you liked my card, it was so much fun to do, I too love this beautiful, sadly retired, Stampin Up set.
I can’t wait to see what will be the next Retro Rubber Challenge.
Have a wonderful week.
Maria.
This card certainly doesn’t look like it was a challenge – you totally nailed both the CAS part and the watercolor! Just gorgeous!
Beautiful card! Love the color combo and the softness of the separated twine.
Awesome job on the challenge! The flowers are gorgeous, and I really like how you added the twine. So pretty!
Debbie, great card as always. I am in awe of your wonderful paper layers. Cx
Just beautiful, Debbie. I love the colors and these images were perfect for the challenge.
Debbie, your card is gorgeous! I just love the beautiful flowers! The twine is the perfect embellishment! Perfect CAS card! XX
Debbie, you would never have thought that you were running from the two words…. CAS and watercolor! Your card is watercolored, CAS perfection. I love all the white space and the pops of color and our coloring is fabulous! Love it

Beautiful, Debbie! A perfect combination of colors. I LOVE the layers!
So pretty Debbie – your flowers are beautifully coloured and framed and the soft twine is gorgeous. A great CAS card!
Debbie, I just love how you paired the stamped images with the color combo to create such a beautiful card! The layers add so much dimension, while keeping the overall design CAS. So pretty!
