You’ve Got This Card and Gift Box

Hello Stampers! I am so happy to be Mary Fish’s guest stamper today, who is soaking up some Hawaiian sun! What a great vacation she is surely having!! I just hope she will want to come back!

I made a card and gift box that can easily be used for any occasion. The new Bohemian DSP is so rich with a great Southwestern feel. I absolutely love the colors that incorporate new In-Colors and colors that should already be in your stash.

You've Got This, Choose Happiness, Bohemian DSP, gift box

The card is very straight forward, using the dimensions of an A2 card. The background DSP is from the new Bohemian DSP. The wonderful floral stamp is from You’ve Got This, a brand new stamp set from the 2015-2016 catalog and is sure to be a big hit for anyone. I heat embossed the flower with VersaMark and Memento Black ink, then heat embossed with Clear Emboss Powder. The stem was watercolored with Bermuda Bay and a blender pen. The flower was watercolored the same way with Island Indigo and Delightful Dijon. If you love to use ribbon, you will absolutely love the new ribbon! I love its sheer, soft feel!

The Gift Box is one that I adapted from this tutorial. I made it in the same manner but the dimensions are different and listed below the photo. The small designs were just punched with the 1″ square punch straight from the DSP.

Box Dimensions:

  • Cardbase: 7 3/4″ x 11 1/2″ and scored at 2 3/4″, 5 1/2″, 8 1/4″, 11″
    • then scored width-wise at 2 1/2″
  • Layer 1: 4 1/2″ x 2 1/4″
  • Layer 2: 4 1/4″ x 2″
  • Layer 3: 4 1/8″ x 1  7/8″

Box Lid Dimensions:

  • 4 3/4″ and scored at 1″ on all four sides
  • Layer 1: 2 5/8″ square
  • Layer 2: 2 1/2″ square

The flower was made using the Large Scallop Punch and the Label Bracket punch. I spritzed You've Got This, Choose Happiness, Bohemian DSP, Gift Box Lidall 9 punched pieces with alcohol, then scrunched and let them dry. I alternated the sides of the DSP so that both patterns were displayed. What a precious bow the new ribbon makes! This will be your go-to ribbon in your stash!!

This box was easy to make and not hard to customize at all. I hope you will give it a try the next time you want to make a special presentation!

Thank you for the directions on how to make the box, I will definitely give it a try. The lovely flower you made is exquisite, what an amazing way to adorn it.
Can I ask you why did you sprayed the flower with alcohol? I’ve never heard of this technique but the results are awesome.

  4. Hi Debbie! Wow! This is a two for one post! The card is mesmerizing! I see new details the longer I look at it! Then I look at the box and cannot believe the detail on it! The colors for both are stunning! Wow! Thank you for such beautiful work and ideas!

  5. Maria, thank you for your kind comments! To answer your question, spritzing with water or alcohol before scrunching them just makes the paper softer to play with as well as easier to adjust into the flower shape. I love the effect that it makes when finished. Hope you will give it a try!
