Thanks to everyone who played along with our Retro Rubber sketch challenge. I had so much fun using that sketch and your creations were really wonderful! We have a new challenge for you so I hope you will play along because it’s time to make a wedding card! It’s always great to have one ready so, even if you don’t need one right now, you will be glad you made one for your card stash.
My card today is for a very special occasion! My son got married this past weekend!! I wanted a card that was unique and had to plan this one for a while, using two stamp sets from the past Occasions Catalog, So in Love and That’s the Tag. The “Congratulations” sentiment as well as the one on the back came from Love & Laughter which came out in the 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog. The font in this stamp set is perfect so it’s found a permanent spot on my retired stash shelf (er… shelves). This project uses quite a bit of retired product but this is exactly why I love to keep my “oldies but goodies!”
I recently found a couple of new challenge blogs; Just For Fun Rubber Stamps Challenge Blog for “Wedding Bells” and Dies R Us Challenge Blog with a “Layers” challenge. I am interested in submitting my card to them. I hope you will check out their design teams and play along with me!
It’s All in the Details
- The Sahara Sand card base is a gate fold but I decorated the “back side” as the front.
- Two panels from the Detailed Floral Thinlits were cut with the Big Shot and adhered to the side panels.
- All panels were covered with Moroccan DSP and Very Vanilla cardstock. Sahara Sand Lace Trim was wrapped around the center panel before it was taped down.
- Very Vanilla cardstock was cut with Lots of Labels Framelit, then embossed with the Bride & Groom Embossing Folder through the Big Shot. Sahara Sand cardstock was cut to layer underneath.
- The sentiment from Love & Laughter was stamped in Sahara Sand and cut with the banner from Cupcake Cutouts, then scored and adhered to the card base.
- Four flowers were cut from Stylish Stems Thinlits, adhered together and taped to the side panels. The sentiments were stamped and cut out with framelits and also taped down to the side panels.
- Finishing Touch: metal rimmed pearls added to the flower centers, one vanilla rosettes from my stash (a retired embellishment kit, I believe) was added for a sweet bridal bouquet. A single strand of small pearls was threaded through the lace knot.

Hello Debbie: First of all, CONGRATULATIONS to your son and his new bride, I’m sending best wishes for a lifetime of love and joy.
Your card is a treasure, it’s absolutely beautiful, the lacy cutouts are so delicate and just perfect for it, the colors are lovely and your attention to detail magnificent.
Beautifully done!!
Hugs,
Maria.
this is one of my favorite cards that you’ve made!!
This is definitely a keepsake for your son and his new bride! So elegant with incredible lacy details, perfect DSP, and great embossing folder! So very pretty!
What a gloriously stylish colour combination. Love that bride and groom on the label – so elegant! I think you’re very brave to be making a card for your own son’s wedding – I’d be too terrified to do one so close to me, I think!
OMG! This is just gorgeous Debbie! LOVE the fancy fold and your rich colors! Beautiful job! Thanks so much for playing in our ‘Layers’ challenge at Dies R Us! Please come back again soon!

Debbie, Congrats to your son and his new wife, I wish them much happiness. I love weddings and the cards that I get to give and this was so special as it was for your Son, it’s stunning and a really great keepsake for their special day. I love the layers and as always your amazing attention to detail. Clairexx
Debbie, this card is a treasure…. I know because I saw it up close and personal. Your addition of so much lovely detail is a testament of your love for both of them. The colors, the intricate dies, the texture and sweet bling showcases the love of a parent for her loved children (regardless of age!). Many blessings for Adam and Farah, and for you, Aly and Sarah!!
SPLENDIDE +++
Congrats to everyone……especially you, for gaining a d.i.l. the card is wordless…I cannot find the right words to express about the card; thank you for sharing your special day, too!
Hi Debbie!
Congratulations! You made it through the day as the MOG. I’m certain the day was spectacular! Speaking of spectacular – your card is amazing. I can see that it is filled with love. It will be a treasured keepsake from a very special day and a very special woman. Thanks so much for sharing!!
You came up with such an elegant card for your son’s wedding. What a treasure. I do have a question…did you use some sort of closure for the card? I would think the lacy panels would not “stay put” but a belly band would certainly disturb the overall beauty.
Hi Hope! Thank you for your comment! I have had the card on display for a while and never had a problem with it staying put. Just use your bone folder on the scored folds very well.
This is so elegant and beautiful! Thanks for joining the Just For Fun challenge! We hope to see you again soon!
Debbie, this is a beautiful card and great take on the wedding challenge. I love the design, the colors and all the different elements that make it very special. Enjoy your day!
This card is simply amazing! Congratulations to Adam and Farah, their day looked perfect! May they have many years of joy, laughter and love!
I am sure your Son and Daughter-in-Law were very pleased with this card. It is so gorgeous!
I wish I had the Moroccan DSP paper it looks perfect. I see it must be discontinued.
I do not have a good eye designs.
For a wedding or Anniversary card what is your opinion of the Bundle of Love DSP paper in the new catalog? It’s hard to tell looking at such small prints are these too busy for the card you made?
Thanks, Lora, for your comment! The Bundle of Love DSP is great, but I am thinking that the Fresh Floral DSP would be beautiful for this type of card. Let me know if I can help you at all!
Beautiful pictures! Congrats to your son! What a special day! Beautiful card! So creative and especially looooving that lace!❤️
Gorgeous wedding card! The lacy die cutting adds so much interest and delicacy to this card, very special indeed! Thanks for sharing with us at Just for Fun Rubber stamps!
