Alphabet Challenge has a new theme starting today – “Q is for Quadruple” so we want to see four of something on your project. While on vacation recently, I took my paper snips and designer papers and cut out shapes while watching the beautiful tide in Myrtle Beach and Baking Impossible with my daughter. So, I had a few items for my project already done and just had to do a small bit of stamping from items in the Sweet Little Stockings stamp set. This project is strong enough to display by itself but you could also frame it to use year after year!
Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!
My secrets to making this Quiet Meadow project
- The finished size of this project is 8-1/2″ square, and started this project with the Spellbinders Windows of Memories 11 frame (S6-106) that I have literally had for years and never used once! Time to have some fun with it, right?
- Using the die, I cut out white cardstock then glued it to the patterned paper from Gingerbread & Peppermint DSP.
- After that, I started adding background layers of various dimensions of Real Red, Old Olive, Basic White, and lastly, Cork Specialty Paper. Then, I backed the Cork paper with Basic White to give it some strength, which would also be a great place to add a message.
Now, the FUN Part!
- Firstly, I pulled all of the ornaments (2 large and 2 small to fulfill the challenge requirement). Once I figured out where they would go, I rounded them a bit and popped them up with dimensionals.
- After that, I popped up the fussy cut Christmas tree and cut the two presents with DSP and added a small strip of Red Velvet paper and cut out a bow for each one.
- Then, I stamped the stocking with Stazon ink and tried my hand at watercoloring it with Old Olive ink because my Old Olive Stampin’ Blends was dry. Not the best but I tried! LOL
- Once I finished the stocking, I stamped the kitty with Soft Suede and colored with Stampin’ Blends (listed below).
- Finally, I stamped the sentiment and cut it apart, and added a double bow and Matte Decorative Dots around the background.
