Color & Contour Suspended Book Fold Card by Secrets To Stamping

Hello, Crafty Friends! Welcome to the Pals Fun Fold Blog Hop!

It’s time, once again, to be inspired with great folds that you will certainly want to try. At the end of my post, you will find the lineup to hop along to the other Pals’ amazing projects. My Suspended Book Fold is one that I discovered recently, first through this video from Iced Images and then through another video by Jan B, whose video is the one I ultimately used. Before you continue on with the hop, you will find the measurements I used to help you create one for yourself. Using the Planted Where You’re Planted designer paper to frame pretty focals from Color & Contour stamp set, I went for a subtle spring card to send to a friend. This card folds flat and fits easily into a 5×7 envelope!

My secrets to making this Quiet Meadow project

  • Firstly, this 5″ x 7″ card base goes together very easily, with the only part to be careful of is adding the book support. So, make sure you add the cardstock with liquid glue so you can wiggle it around and get it as straight as possible. Then, add the book, keeping it centered on the card, one side at a time.

My Card Measurements

  • Card Base
    • Cardstock #1 (as a single layer base) – 7” x 5”
    • Basic White Cardstock – front middle section 2¾” x 4¾”
    • Basic White Cardstock – front edge panels 1¾” x 4¾” (2)
    • DSP #1 – front middle section 2⅝” x 4⅝”
    • DSP #1 – front edge panels 1⅝” x 4⅝” (2)
  • 5” x 5” Book
    • Cardstock #1 Cardstock – 5” x 5” scored & folded @ 2½”
    • Basic White Cardstock – 2¼” x 4¾” (2)
    • DSP #2 – 2⅛” x 4⅝” (2)
  • Book Support
    • Cardstock – 2” x 6” scored & folded at 1½”, 3”, 4½” (2)
    • Basic White Cardstock – 1¼” x 1¾” (4)

Now, the FUN Part!

  • After finishing up the card base, the rest of the card was fun and easy! Firstly, I stamped and colored the two flower images, then cropped them out with their coordinating dies.
  • Once that was done, I stamped the two sentiments from Special Moments and cropped them out with the oval from Stitched Shapes.
  • Then, I wanted a little detail on the book support, so I cut the leaf from the Eden dies with white cardstock and colored them with the Light Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends.
  • Finally, I colored a couple of the Polished Dots with Stampin’ Blends to the left panel and added several to the center of the large flower on the right panel.

I’m sharing my cards with these challenges:
