Hi, Stampers!

Alphabet Challenge has a new theme starting today – “U is for Under the Weather.” I purchased the adorable Cheerful Basket bundle recently because I couldn’t resist the cute kitty. Even though I was a little apprehensive about coloring this little guy, this was only my second attempt so I don’t think I did too badly. I might try again to get it better next time.

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My secrets!

  • Firstly, I cut Smoky Slate cardstock to 4-1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5-1/2″ to make this A2 card.
  • After that, I cut the Tea Boutique designer paper with the Deckled Rectangle die and layered it onto white cardstock.

And now, the fun part!

  • Once the card base was done, I stamped the cat with black ink and began coloring with Stampin’ Blends (colors listed below). Then, I cut it out with the coordinating die.
  • After that, I made the basket with white and Smoky Slate cardstock and glued them together. Since I wanted the handle to have some dimension, I cut it out from Smoky Slate cardstock and colored the handle to make it darker. Then, I glued just the ends to the basket’s edge, giving it some dimension.
  • Then, I stamped and began coloring all of the hearts. Once I was finished, I cut it out with the coordinating die.
  • To anchor the basket to the card base, I cut out two of the napkin triangles in Smoky Slate, then glued all of the images to the card base.
  • Finally, I stamped the sentiment and cropped it out with a banner die, and stamped a butterfly for a little fun detail.

And on the inside…

  • So, I have a couple of resolutions for my cardmaking this year and one of them is to post the inside of my cards more often. Even if I leave out the sentiment for another day, I think having them pretty much ready to go would be nice. Who knows – maybe I will even start doing envelopes!
  • Once I finished the card front, I made a panel with white and Petal Pink cardstock. Then, on the white cardstock, I stamped the sentiment from Beautifully Happy (Sale-A-Bration stamp set!). After that, I took the heart stamp and inked them into the lower corners for just a little something – nothing crazy but effective, right?
  • Finally, I adhered the two panels together.

I’m sharing my card with these challenges:
