My Card Today

Today’s project is a variation of this Triple Cube Card I made two years ago (wow! Time flies!). This time my inspiration was from Mixed Up Crafts, which looked fun as well. I changed her measurements just a bit, so feel free to use hers or mine if you decide to make one. I wanted to use the Little Monkey bundle for a birthday card, so I paired it with the Bright & Beautiful patterned paper to make it festive.

Little Monkey Fun Fold Birthday Card by Secrets to Stamping

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, I cut the card base to 6″ x 10-1/2″.
    • 10-1/2″ side: score at 2-1/2″, 5″, 7-1/2″ and 10″.
    • 6″ side: score at 1/2″, 3″, and 5-1/2″
    • Once that was done, I cut along the score lines (see my visual of the card base below).
    • Cube Panels: Cardstock: 2-3/8″ squares (8), DSP: 2-1/8″ squares (8)
  • Back Panel: 5″ by 6-1/4″ (wish I had done it 5″ x 6″ though)
    • Cardstock: 6″ x 2-1/4″ (2),
    • DSP: 5-7/8″ x 2-1/8″ (2)
    • Window Sheets: Large image used 5″ x 1/2″ and fold the ends about 1/2″. Small one for the Happy Birthday sentiment was 3-1/2″ x 1/2″ and scored at 1/2″, 1″, 2-1/2″ and 3″. Mountain and valley folds on each end holds the sentiment straight.
    • I adhered the cube box together, then adhered the two side tabs to the back panel before I adhered the cardstock panels to the back panel.

Now, the FUN part!

  • Once the card base was done, I stamped the Little Monkey image and colored him with Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Blends. Since I couldn’t get the ink on his face colored without the ink bleeding (believe me, I tried a few times), I finally decided to let his face be white. So, I cropped out the first one with the Little Monkey Punch. Then, I stamped another image and just cropped out the face with the Little Monkey Punch.
  • After that, I stamped the leaves and bananas, and colored them with Stampin’ Blends.
  • Then, I stamped the branch, colored it, and cropped it out with the largest circle die from Stylish Shapes.
  • After that, I stamped both of the sentiments and cropped them out with the small Stitched Rectangle die.
  • Finally, to get them adhered to the card base, I cut small pieces of Window Sheets and folded them to make tabs for the ends. I laid the card flat to add adhesive in the middle of the Window Sheet, then placed the monkey image in the middle. For the Happy Birthday sentiment, I folded the Window Sheet so that the ends made a “Z”, then added adhesive to the flat part in the middle and applied it to the sentiment. Once that was done, I added adhesive to the ends and placed it on the fold.
  • This card does fold flat for mailing but you will have to have a larger envelope to fit it into.

Hope this visual helps…

Sorry for the very poor quality of this drawing! I had a pen that kept smudging and I couldn’t seem to figure out where it was coming from till I finally looked at my hand!
