Throughout The Year Monochrome Card for the Alphabet Challenge

Throughout The Year Card by Secrets To Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Alphabet Challenge starts today with the theme, “M is for Monochrome.” This theme is never an easy one for me, but I do love making them (when I don’t have to). I decided to use the Gorgeous Garden die with the beautiful Joy of Christmas designer paper. That helped me with everything else, using the Throughout The Year stamp set with the Nested Essentials dies.

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this card used Soft Sea Foam cardstock for the card base, cut at 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4.”
  • After that, I ran the front of the card through my die cutting machine in the Exposed Brick embossing folder to give the card more texture.
  • Then, I ran the Joy of Christmas paper with the Gorgeous Garden die through the die-cutting machine and trimmed it to fit onto the card front.

And now, the fun part!

  • Once that was done, I stamped the sentiment from Throughout The Year in Shaded Spruce ink and cropped it out with the Nested Essentials die. Then, I cut Soft Sea Foam cardstock with the next bigger one and layered them both together.
  • Since the card still needed some more details, I cut out a retired pretty butterfly from my stash and colored it with Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends marker.
  • Then, I stamped two of the boughs from Layered Leaves stamp set in Shaded Spruce ink and colored the leaves with Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends, as well.
  • For a little interest, I took a small piece of white baker’s twine, separated the stands, and tied them together in a knot. Then, I added bling from the Blooming Pearls onto the body of the butterfly and the center of the baker’s twine.

I’m sharing my card with these challenges:
