Hi, Stampers!
A new Alphabet Challenge starts today with the theme, “V is for Vogue (fashion)” – what a fun theme but I had absolutely nothing current in my SU stash. So, I needed to go buy something. (DARN!) I found this beautiful dress die-cut, then paired it with the Dressed To Impress bundle I have in my retired bin to sell – all’s well that ends well, right? I used the dress dies a little differently than it was intended because I used the collar die to make the sleeves. All in all, I think this card came out pretty well, but would love to hear what you think in a comment!
Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!
My Secrets!
Let’s start with the card base…
- Firstly, I made the card base with Very Vanilla cardstock, cut it to 9 x 8-1/2, and scored at 4-1/4.
- After that, I cut the background layer with Starry Sky textured specialty paper, cut to 8-3/4 x 4, and the Flight & Airy designer paper, cut to 8-5/8 x 3-7/8.
- Then, I cut the All About Autumn designer paper (wood “flooring”) to 3-7/8 x 2-1/2 and a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock cut to 3-7/8 x 1/2 to look like the baseboard. After that, I glued them in place.
And now, the fun part!
- Once that was done, I cut the dress die pieces from the Starry Sky Textured paper. Then, I cut the dress form stand pieces from Very Vanilla cardstock. After that, to mount the dress, I used a thin piece of Very Vanilla cardstock to glue the pieces in place. Then, I wrapped the ribbon around the waist of the dress to hide the ends of the dies and placed Polished Dots on top of the ribbon. Finally, I adhered the dress to the card base and added a dimensional under the middle of the dress to make sure it kept its dimension.
- I stamped the two Dressed To Impress sentiments in Starry Sky ink, cut the “hello, fabulous” with the Scalloped Contours die, and then layered it onto more Starry Sky paper. After that, the “Life is short…” sentiment was cut with the small Countryside Corners die and popped up with dimensionals onto the card base.
- Lastly, I stamped the Dressed To Impress shoes onto Petal Pink cardstock, and colored them with the retired Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Blends (it was surprisingly closer in color than the actual Petal Pink one). Then, I added a light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends to the shoes on the inside to give them a little contrast and blended it out with more Pink Pirouette. Finally, I glued one shoe to the sentiment and added the second one to the card base.

Wow!! I love your dress card! Thanks for joining us this week at Pammie’s Inky Pinkies. Hope to see you again.
Thank you so much for creating this beautiful dress as your DT project for my challenge theme over at the Alphabet challenge blog. I’m sorry to have sent you shopping, but then again, fashion and shopping do go hand-in-hand somehow. The blue dress looks so legant, especislly with the paper looking like fabric. I like how you arranged the background papers in a way that allowed you to build a showroom for your dress. The embellishments are top notch, and so are the sentiments you used.
Hugs, Veronika
