Another Construction Zone Birthday Card for CC #79

It’s time for a new Creative Creases challenge. Firstly, thanks to all those who participated in the last challenge! If you haven’t played in the challenge yet, I hope I can inspire you to join the challenge that’s starting today! I made a cute Z Fold (or is it a Double Z Fold?) using Trucking Along and Construction Zone stamp sets for a cute kid’s birthday card. Construction Zone is on the retiring list, so I needed to use it one more time before it goes.

Once you’re finished here, check out the current Creative Creases challenge; just click the button below!

My Card Today

Create this card using Construction Zone by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets To Stamping

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Card Base: 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 and scored at 2-1/8 and 4-1/4
  • Z Fold Panel #1: 1-1/2 x 8-1/2 and scored at 2-1/8 and 4-1/4. Then, I ran the long portion of this panel through my die cutting machine with the Stripes & Splatters embossing folder.
  • Z Fold Panel #2: 1-3/4 x 8-1/2 and scored at 2-1/8 and 4-1/4. Then, I cut it with the Basic Border Die (cloud).
  • DSP Panels:
    • Front side panels (2): 5-3/8 x 2
    • Inside Panel: 4-1/8 x 5-3/8
    • Bottom Panels (2): 1-3/8 x 1-7/8
  • Once that was done, I glued the DSP down first, then added the two Z Fold panels as shown.

Now, the FUN part!

  • So, I stamped the truck (Trucking Along stamp set) in black ink and colored it with Real Red Stampin’ Blends because who doesn’t love a red truck?!
  • After that, I stamped the tow truck stamp from Construction Zone in Night of Navy ink and colored it with Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends.
  • The Truck has a coordinating punch so I used it to crop it out and I fussy cut the other truck. Then they were both popped up with dimensionals on the front of the card.
  • My next step was the two sentiments from the Construction Zone stamp set. They were both inked up in Night of Navy and used the Cloud Punch to crop it out and the Sending Dies to crop out the other. Both of these tools are retiring and I am so sad about that! They probably won’t be leaving my stash till SU comes out with a good replacement.
  • I am experimenting with making a tutorial for my fun fold cards. I would love any feedback you have if you can take a minute to look at it. Does it answer the questions you would have? Leave me a comment!

  1. What a fun card! I love how you made the top Z-fold strip into a cloud border! You’ve created a great scene here!
I took a look at your pdf tutorial and thought it was excellent! Detailed measurements, easy-to-follow instructions, and a picture of the finished card. The only suggestion I have is that it might be nice to have more pictures of the process of making the card and maybe the top view of the finished card like you have on your blog.

  2. Donna, my squirrels don’t mind my ducks at all because I bring out fresh bird food when I see the ducks there. They are all polite with each other and there’s plenty of food to go around.

  3. Debbie…. such a cute card! Love that you’re including PDF tutorials with your beautiful cards. My suggestion.. try adding photos of steps that show the fold creation and/or assembly. Make sense?
Thank you for sharing your creativity and time.

  4. Such a cute card for a kid or that guy who is a kid at heart. So glad you joined us at Die Cut Divas.
