Feathered Flight Masculine Card for the Alphabet Challenge

Create this card using Feathered Flight by Stampin' Up! DebbieMageed SecretsToStamping #StampinUp #FunFold #stampinup

Hi, Stampers!

A new Alphabet Challenge starts today with the theme “B is for Birds” so you probably guessed that I’m the host! You know how much I love birds, and the new Feathered Flight stamp set was introduced in the Online Exclusives a little while ago. These ducks will always remind me of my mother because she collected duck home decor. Then, to make a pretty scene for the ducks, I used the new Thoughtful Journey designer paper that will be in the new Annual Catalog (starts May 1st).

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this 5-1/2″ square card started with Misty Moonlight cardstock, cut to 5-1/2 x 11 and scored at 5-1/2.
  • So, I only had to cut the Thoughtful Journey DSP a little bit to 5-1/4 x 5-1/4 to leave as much of it as I could.

And now, the fun part!

  • This card lets the designer paper do most of the work, so I cut the square of the middle of the DSP and stamped the ducks onto it. Then, I mounted it onto Misty Moonlight cardstock and popped it up with dimensionals.
  • Once that was done, I stamped the flying ducks to the top of the paper.
  • After that, I added the grassy bank to the bottom of the card by cutting white cardstock with my Grassy Border die (Die from Fawn Lawn) and coloring it with Stampin’ Blends. The NEW Delicate Forest dies made a great eye-catching feature I just colored before tucking it behind the grass.
  • Since I couldn’t decide where and how to add a sentiment to the card front, I stamped the “always thinking of you” from the Nested Friends stamp set onto the grass.
  • Finally, I put my favorite little dragonflies around to add a sparkle.

I’m sharing my card with these challenges:

  1. Debbie, I keep thinking about this stamp set but it is still unordered. I love how you used it here along with the DSP, which I did order! Noah is getting taller! I love bubble guns…such fun! Thank you for entering your card at PIP but, unfortunately, you aren’t eligible for the prize because the challenge is limited to 10, including ours. Hugs, Karen

  2. You made a wonderful scene n this card using the DSP and the stamp set. It’s a beautiful card…perfect for a male recipient or a birder like me. Thank you for your inspiration.

  3. Hi Debbie,
I love, love, love your feathered flight card. I have 2 grown boys that enjoy the outdoors (and my cards) so this design will be a perfect birthday card for them. What color did you use to stamp the ducks with, Pecan pie? Also, what die set did the grass die come from? You are such a talented designer and I look forward to opening up the card designs that you send.

    Thank you so much, Joanie

  4. Thank you, Joan! Yes, I used Pecan Pie (wonderful new color!) for the ducks. The die I used for the grass is from Fawn Lawn which I have had in my collection for years. It’s a good 6″ long and is perfect for my square cards.

  5. Love your layout and beautiful stamped ducks.Noah is fairly stretching.Thank you for your kind words, just take things one day at a time

  18. Hi there Beautiful masculine card featuring Feathered Flight Stamp set. i do have a question regarding the grassy die cut. Can you provide more detail on the name of the die set for the grass? I “Grassy Border” die set I know you said it was from the Grassy border die but can’t find anything like that in my search so wondering if there is a SU name for the actual die set? Thank you
