Another Adventurous Sky Card for the Alphabet Challenge

Create this card using Adventurous Sky by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets To Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Alphabet Challenge starts today with the theme “G is for Gentlemen” ~ i.e. a masculine card. I don’t know about your guys, but mine just love everything about airplanes. And if my dear father was still with us, he would have especially loved this Adventurous Sky bundle since he was an Air Force pilot for 20 years. When I was making this card, my sweet grandson Noah was staying for the weekend. He asked me what it was for, so I told him it was a birthday card. He said, “Can you save this card for my birthday when I turn 4?” So, Noah, this one is for you, sweet boy!

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, my card is a simple window card, which started with thick white cardstock, cut to 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 and scored at 4-1/4.
  • After that, I cut the designer paper to 5-1/4 x 4 and adhered it to the card front.

And now, the fun part!

  • Once that was done, I stamped the airplane in Night of Navy ink and colored it with the light Navy and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends. Then, I cut it out with the coordinating die – once with the image and a second one to give it strength.
  • After that, I stamped the cloud in Night of Navy ink and used the Balmy Blue and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends to outline them.
  • Then, I stamped the Happy Birthday and cropped it out with the banner die.
  • I cropped out the window with the circle die from the Everyday Details die collection, then carefully placed the clouds over the window with glue dots. After that, I placed the cloud, I popped up the airplane with the mini dimensionals.

Then, on the inside…

  • Since this card will probably go to Noah, I had to add another plane with some clouds to the inside of the card.
  • Finally, the sentiment is perfect for my little guy, stamped in more Navy ink.

I hope to share my card with these fun challenges:

  7. The card you’ve created is absolutely stunning, I love the green background with the motif of a map. The vintage airplane is a wonderful image, especially when it’s embellished with clouds and placed on the cut-out of a window card. I can easily understand why Noah reserved the card for himself! Thanks for your DT inspiration for my challenge theme.

    Hugs, Veronika
