Hi, Stampers!
A new Alphabet Challenge starts today with the theme “J is for Juvenile” so we want to see your cards for kids. I bought the Hearts & Hugs bundle recently and thought this was the perfect challenge to bring it out to play. Lily Pad Lane designer paper (15% off this month!) had the background I was looking for so I chose the two mice to ink up. This card is super fast and easy, and I hope you will try it!
Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!
Let’s start with the card base…
- Firstly, this A2 card started with white cardstock, cut to 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 and scored in half at 4-1/4.
- After that, I cut Pretty Peacock cardstock to 5-1/4 x 4, and the Lily Pond Lane DSP to 5-1/8 x 3-7/8. Then, they were glued together onto the card base.
And now, the fun part!
- So, have you used your SU watercolor pencils lately? Me, either! The reason I got them out was that I initially colored the mice with Stampin’ Blends but I wanted a softer color. So, I got out my Basic Gray watercolor pencil and started coloring. SECRET: In the past, I have always used my blender pen over the pencil to blend it, but I had heard lately that you could also use the Color Lifter Stampin’ Blends marker. Let me tell you, I will be using my watercolor pencils more now because there isn’t any pilling on our Basic White cardstock that usually happens with the blending pen.
- Once I was done coloring, I cut them out with their coordinating dies. Then, I popped the large mouse up with dimensionals and glued the little mouse to the card base.
- After that, I inked up the sentiment with black ink and cut it out with the Stylish Shapes banner die. I thought it needed something else, so I cut out another banner with Pretty Peacock cardstock. Then, I cut off the banner ends of the sentiment and glued them together. Once that was done, I popped it up with dimensionals.
- Finally, I recently found my lost butterflies in an old Paper Pumpkin kit, so I just had to use them on this card for a little touch of sparkle.

Then, on the inside…
- For the inside, I made another panel of Pretty Peacock and white cardstock (same dimensions as the front).
- I am leaving lots of room for a personal message, so I cut out the leaves and stems die with Granny Apple Green cardstock and the flowers with Peach Pie. Finally, I added the Shimmer Gems to the center of the flowers for more bling.
