Sophisticated Sled Double Point Card for Creative Creases #88

It’s time for a new Creative Creases challenge. Firstly, thanks to all those who participated in the last challenge! If you haven’t played in the challenge yet, I hope I can inspire you to join the challenge that’s starting today! I made my first holiday season card with the fantastic new Online Exclusive bundle, Sophisticated Sled. That sled was a must-have the moment I saw it! I thought it would be a great focal image for a Double Point card that has a surprise inside ~ another card! It’s so easy to make and I have shared the tutorial below.

Once you’re finished here, check out the current Creative Creases challenge; just click the button below!

My Card Today

Create this card using Sophisticated Sled by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets To Stamping

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, I found THIS tutorial from Jackie Bolhuis to make this card; this Double Point card has the dimensions of an A2 card.
  • Card Base #1: 8 x 5-1/4, score & fold at 4″
  • Card Base #2: 5-1/2 x 4-1/4
  • Designer Series Paper: 3-1/2 x 3-1/2, cut in half on the diagonal and scored at 1/2″ on the long end and snipped the extra off each corner.
  • Once that was done, I glued the triangles at the top and bottom of Card #1, being very careful that the ends match up well with the card base.
  • Designer Series Paper: 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 for the inside card
  • After that, I glued Card #1 to Card #2.

Now, the FUN part!

  • Once that was done, I began the card front with the sled. Firstly, I cut all of the dies with cardstock: Smoky Slate and Copper Clay for the sled. Then, I used Granny Apple Green for the green swag. After that, I cut white cardstock with the Radiating Stitches die and glued down all of the pieces, as shown. Then, I marked where this panel should be glued on the triangle to make sure I didn’t apply glue in the wrong spot, and glued it down.
  • On the inside of the card front, I decided to add another white Radiating Stitches panel to give it a more finished look as well as add some weight to the image.
  • After that, I added more DSP to Card #1, measuring 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 to make a background for another panel with an image.
  • Firstly, I stamped the ice skates in Misty Moonlight and cropped it out with the coordinating die.
  • Then, I stamped the sentiment in Misty Moonlight and cropped it out with the Perennial Postage die. Once that was done, they were glued onto the die cut and glued onto the card.
  • Once that was done, I added two strips of DSP to the top of the inside of the card, which was mainly to hide a “boo boo”. Don’t forget that there’s no mistakes in crafting, just opportunities to embellish!
  • Then, I stamped the sentiment in Misty Moonlight ink.
  • Finally, I found some cute snowflakes in my embellishments, so I added them to the card front and more on the inside (you can’t overdo snowflakes, can you?).
  • SECRET: If it bothers you that the front panel doesn’t lay down, there are a few options you can use. My personal favorite is adding a little glue dot between the two layers. Then, I touch it a couple of times to decrease its tackiness. If one doesn’t do, add a second one.

So, this is the Sophisticated Sled Bundle!

Thanks for scrolling to the end!

Sorry if you scrolled to the end to see Noah, but he’s been at his other grandmother’s house in Michigan. Unfortunately, he got sick while there and stayed longer than he was supposed to. BUT, I did want to share this tip with my followers that I learned from Patty Bennett. This eraser works great on photopolymer stamps! You rub it across the image then ink it up. That’s it! Not only do you get a better image, it helps resist the ink staining the stamp. You’re welcome!!

  1. Debbie, I love this pretty design with the surprise card inside. I think the sled bundle will get a lot of attention for my cards this year. It includes so many pretty options. Enjoy your day!

  2. Awesome winter card, Debbie! That little sled is just darling! And the fun fold you used is one I definitely want to try soon! It’s great for using pretty DSP and having lots of space to embellish with die cuts and stamping, which you’ve done so beautifully!

  3. Oh my. This is stunning! Love the sled die cut – and this FOLD!! WOW! Now I’m going to have to add this one to my projects list! Beautiful! 🙂

  4. Debbie, this is the PERFECT fold for this Stamp & Die bundle. Beautiful. Thank you for the Eraser Tip. I ordered, received and will be using them soon.
