Time for Changing Leaves at the Alphabet Challenge

Create this card using Changing Leaves by Stampin' Up! DebbieMageed SecretsToStamping #ChangingLeavesStampinUp #FunFold #onlineexclusives

Hi, Stampers!

A new Alphabet Challenge starts today with the theme “L is for Landscape” and I am the host! If you need some inspiration, keep reading to see how I got over my dread of cutting our beautiful papers. The three panels are easy and make the paper even better, in my honest opinion. I used the Online Exclusives Changing Leaves bundle and paired it with the new Splendid Autumn designer paper that is in the new mini catalog. So, get out your stamps and papers and let your creativity go! I can’t wait to see what you make.

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this A2 card started with 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 cardstock that was scored at 4-1/4.
  • White cardstock layer: 4 x 5-1/4
  • Panels:
    • Cardstock: 3-7/8 x 1-5/8 (3)
    • DSP: 3-3/4 x 1-1/2 (3) – If you use a landscape DSP, make sure you cut the landscape from one end to the other
  • Once all of my papers were cut, I adhered them together with liquid glue.

And now, the fun part!

  • After that, I used the hybrid embossing folder and dies to dry emboss then cut out the beautiful leaves in “one fell swoop” ~ I love these hybrid bundles! I used the new designer paper’s opposite side that has more solid coordinating colors and got lots of great leaves to choose from. I also cut some of the die-cut leaves that match pretty well with the embossed leaves that didn’t get cut out. So, you can get even more textured leaves!
  • Once that was done, I stamped the sentiment from the Changing Leaves stamp set in Mossy Meadow ink and cropped it out with one of the great dies in the bundle.
  • Finally, I used dimensionals to pop the sentiment up, after laying down the leaves and linen thread bow.

I hope to share my card with these challenges:

  1. Absolutely beautiful card! Thank you for sharing your tips on making it. I also don’t like to cut up beautiful landscape paper. Love all of your cards.

  2. Pretty card. I love that DSP and am so glad I have it. I might even do something with it this weekend to enter the challenge. My son used to have a blue bunny like Noah’s. It was worn out and retired to the closet. When he left home I asked if he wanted to take it with him and the answer was no so it went in the trash 🙁 I gave bunny a proper funeral 🙂 Have a great weekend.

  3. Such a great panel scene, Debbie – just love the diecut leaves and pretty sentiment label atop!! So glad you kicked off the gallery at Die Cut Divas!! Noah is such a cutie – thanks for sharing him w/bunny!!
