Stampin’ Up! Gallery Blooms Birthday Card for Creative Creases #105

Hi, Stampers! Today kicks off a new Creative Creases Challenge, and whether you’ve been stamping forever or you’re just getting started with fun folds, I think this one will be fun for you. It’s easy (my favorite kind!) and can be used for any occasion you need. Starting with the Beautiful Gallery paper that is a must-have! Stunning paper and patterns for anything you want. Then, I had fun with my stamp collection with the Gallery Blooms at the top of the list.

I love making cards with lots of different supplies but have no fear, I have a list of everything I used at the bottom of my blog post.

So, I hope you are inspired by my card today and will check out the beautiful cards by the rest of the talented design team. Click this link to head over to the challenge.

My Card Today

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, you can watch THIS VIDEO to make this card. I don’t think I used her exact measurements though, so I am providing the measurements I used below.
  • Now, let’s make the card base and panels.
  • Card Base: 7-1/4 x 5-1/2, then scored at 4-1/4 and 5-3/4 on the 7″ side
  • Then, with the 5-1/2 side at the top of your trimmer, cut from the bottom at 2-3/4 up to the very first score line.
  • Top Panels: DSP: 2-5/8 x 4-1/8 (2)
  • Bottom Panels: DSP 1-3/8 x 2-5/8 (2)
  • Once I got to the back, I wanted a frame for the side with a personal message, I made panels with cardstock, 2-5/8 x 4-1/8 and one white cardstock panel, cut to 2-1/2 x 4 and one DSP panel, cut to 2-1/2 x 4.
  • Then, I decided to make a “tent” for the two small easels to keep them stable. This is totally optional, but I cut two pieces of white cardstock, 1 x 2 and scored at 1/2, 1, 1-1/2. I just burnished the score lines and glued them in place.

Now, the FUN part!

  • Gallery Blooms Flower: I started with this panel and it was the most difficult for me because I initially wanted to cut it out as a square panel. I just couldn’t make myself cut it up so I ended up with a rectangle panel. The flower was stamped twice once in Basic Gray and then again in Smoky Slate. Then, I colored the flowers on the Smoky Slate image with Stampin’ Blends and fussy cut them out. After that, I colored the leaves on the Basic Gray image and cropped it out with the Perennial Postage rectangle die. I popped the flowers up with dimensionals and layered the panel onto the Secret Sea cardstock. Once that was done, I glued it to the card base.
  • Beautiful Butterflies Image: I stamped the butterfly twice with Secret Sea ink and colored them with the Cloud Cover Stampin’ Blends. I cropped them out with the coordinating die. I cut out white cardstock with the square Perennial Postage die and layered it onto Secret Sea cardstock. I glued one butterfly onto the square (set on a diagonal) and popped the other one over it. Then, the panel was glued to the card base.
  • The sentiment from the retired Layering Leaves stamp set (NOT leaving my craft room any time soon) in Secret Sea ink and cropped it out with the Spotlight on Nature die. Then, I punched the circle from the 2-3/8″ Circle Punch and layered it under the sentiment.
  • So, this is where I realized that I should have added the sentiment to the card base before the DSP was glued down. No worries! I just used two pieces of window sheet acetate (cut to 2 x 1 and folded in half. I glued them down so that the circle panel was at the top of the card base.
  • Finally, I added the large pearls to the centers of the flowers and the body of the butterfly.

Then, on the back…

  • I made the personal message panel and glued it to the card base.
  • After that, I made a panel with Secret Sea cardstock and more Gallery Blooms DSP and glued it to the card base.
  • Then, I inked up the Happy Birthday sentiment and the You’re a true blessing from the Unbounded Love stamp set in Secret Sea ink. I cropped it out with the Perennial Postage die and layered it onto Secret Sea cardstock. Once that was done, I added it to the back of the card.

I hope to submit this card to the following challenges:

Thanks for scrolling to the end!

Last week, my son and his family moved from the hustle of downtown Chicago to the suburbs—just five minutes from me! While that adorable baby grin might suggest moving day was a breeze, let me tell you… it was HOT. But despite the heat, Noah and Musa were troopers, and we got them moved in. It was sweaty, chaotic, and honestly, a little magical to know they’re now so close. They’ve got lots of settling in to do still, but now that we’re practically neighbors, you better believe Oma’s got a front-row seat to the next chapter. Got any favorite “new house” stories to share with me?

Not sure I have a favorite new house story to tell, but when we moved into this house we managed to lock ourselves out of it and my husband decided to break the bathroom window to get into the house LOL. Good thing the window was old and needed replaced anyway. Hopefully none of our neighbours saw the happenings haha.
So great to see you at my Garden Party!
