Winter Wonderland Gift Card Holder for the Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

Hi, Stampers!

This month, the Pals have been busy creating cozy, frosty, whimsical card ideas and paper crafts for our Winter Wonderland theme — using our favorite Stampin’ Up! goodies. Each project brings a different twist, and that’s what makes the hop feel like a stroll through a creative winter village. If you’re looking for inspiration (or maybe a reason to stay inside with your craft supplies), this hop is for you! I always need a gift card holder during the holidays, don’t you? The best part of putting “Happy New Year” on it is that it frees you to give it before or after the holidays. I love the Elegant Pine Snowflakes designer paper because it can be used for more than just the holidays. Then, I used the great Branching Out dies to make it beautiful.

Create this card using Branching Out dies by Stampin' Up! DebbieMageed SecretsToStamping #StampinUp #FunFold #stampinup

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • This gift card holder is so easy and a great way to use your beautiful patterned paper! Here are all of the measurements for my W-fold gift card holder. I followed this video tutorial but tweaked it a bit.
  • Card Base: 8-1/2 x 5-1/2
  • Gift Card Holder Inside: 4-1/2 x 11 (don’t forget to trim off the 1″ if you are using patterned paper). Score at 2-3/4, 5-1/2, and 8-1/4. Then, on the far right side, I trimmed from the score to the 2″ mark on the side edge to create the pocket for a gift card.
  • Cardstock Panels for front and inside (3): 4 x 5-1/4 and DSP for front: 3-7/8 x 5-1/8
  • I glued the panels to the front and inside, then added glue to the left side of the gift card holder panel. Once that was in place, I added glue along the left, right, and bottom with a very thin stripe of glue. Do NOT glue the slanted top edge! Then, I folded it up and closed the back of the card on top of the panel and let it dry.

And now, the fun part!

  • OK, don’t you think that was easy? I thought so!
  • Once that was done, I started on the front of the card by making a panel of white and Cherry Cobbler cardstock, cut with the wonderful Branching Out dies. I love them!
  • After that, I cut out the “Happy New Year” with the Words for the Season dies (definitely a keeper in my forever stash) with Cherry Cobbler cardstock and glued them to the panel.
  • Once that was done, I cut out two of the branches from the Branching Out dies and colored them with Stampin’ Blends (listed below). I cut them in half and glued three of the pieces to the panel. Then, I made a bow with Cherry Cobbler ribbon (sorry to say that the spool is unmarked, so I don’t know the name).
  • Finally, I couldn’t resist adding a few retired snowflakes with a sparkle dot in the center

Then, on the inside…

  • So, for the inside, I cut out two of the branches and three of the pinecones. Then, I colored them with Stampin’ Blends (listed below).
  • I cut out the smaller Branching Out dies in white and Cherry Cobbler cardstock and layered the branches and pinecones before adhering the entire panel to the inside of the card.
  • The “just for you” sentiment from With You in Mind was inked up with Cherry Cobbler ink and cropped out with the Greetings of the Season die. Then, it was layered onto another Branching Out die. I made a second bow and covered the hole from the die.
  • The third panel on the inside was made with the Branching Out dies from more designer paper and cardstock. Then, I colored the clear sparkle dots with Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends before adding them to the center of the panel.
  • The inside panels could be used for a personal message, but you would have to write out your message before adhering it to the fun fold panels. So, I made another panel for the back of the card with the Branching Out dies.
  • This card can be mailed, but it’s a bit thick, so it would need extra postage and a larger envelope.

  1. This is so beautiful and practical, Debbie! I love cards that double as gift card holders because they make giving a gift card feel more personalized. Yours is truly lovely with the DSP you chose and that unique fun fold! Happy new year, my friend!

  2. What a beautiful way to use long pieces of DSP. I should use this instead of using the 4 panel accordion fold I’ve been using. Thank you for organizing this Hop for us every month! Gorgeous card!

  3. This is absolutely beautiful and such a great card to present the gift card in! Love the card fold!
Thanks so much for sharing at “I spy with my little eye challenge”!
PS: Hope to see you at the new linkup where it’s all about “a year in review: favorites of 2025”! Sorry I didn’t get to organize the hop this year but still wanted to host a linkup!
