Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

Hi, Stampers!
This month’s theme is Animal House—and the Pals are here to inspire you with a parade of paw-some card ideas and paper craft creations, all featuring Stampin’ Up! products. At the end of each post, you’ll find links to all the participant blogs so you can “hop” along and gather ideas to make your own projects roar with personality.
I adore all animals, so when I saw this theme, I was ready to dive in—except, it turns out, my stash is almost completely animal-free. Luckily, I still have my beloved Otterly Adorable designer paper (still in the Last Chance sale as of today!). I’ve made no secret of my love for this suite, so while this might be my last project using it, it’s definitely staying in my stash forever.
My very first Creative Creases Challenge was making this DIY frame, and I can’t believe that was over 4 years ago! It was time to make another one using the cute Otterly Adorable paper. My grandson Noah will be getting this cute frame card, so I hope he likes it!

My Secrets!
Let’s start with the card base (measurements in inches)…
- Firstly, I followed this Splitcoaststampers tutorial. The measurements are in centimeters for some reason, but the concept is to add 2 inches to each side for the frame. So, whatever size you want to make, add 4 inches to the length and 4 inches to the width, i.e. an A2 frame card would be 9-1/2 x 8-1/4. The inside panel would be 4-1/2 x 3-1/4. Please note that the frame doesn’t lay flat for mailing.
- If you are reluctant to try this tutorial, I just learned that there’s a We R Makers Frame Punch Board that’s supposed to make it much easier, but I do not own it. Here’s a link to it on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Frame-Punch-Board-Memory-Keepers/dp/B01KBIIWPA?th=1
- My DIY frame started with cardstock cut to 9-1/2 x 9-1/2 and scored at 1/2, 1, 1-1/2, and 2 on ALL sides. Cut the four corners off, then follow the tutorial to cut two of the sides to make a mitered corner. Once that was done, glue the sides together, tucking the unmitered ends into the adjacent edge. (It will make more sense when you watch the video, I promise!)
And now, the fun part!
- Once the frame was done, I cut the Otterly Adorable paper to 4-1/2 x 4-1/2 and glued it into the frame.
- Then, using the coordinating die, I cut out the cute otter.
- I also cut out the tall leaves from designer paper.
- After that, I stamped the sentiment from Bee My Valentine in Early Espresso ink and cropped it out with the Textured Notes rectangle die.
- I put adhesive on the back of the sentiment and added the otter and leaves, then popped them up with dimensionals onto the frames.

Then, on the back…
- I found a perfect Early Espresso Stitched Rectangle die-cut in my paper stash. I wanted to make a stand for the frame, so I cut a piece of Early Espresso cardstock to 5-1/4 x 2-1/4 and scored it at 1/2 and glued it to the rectangle panel. This will allow the frame to stand up by itself.
- After that, I cut the Otterly Amazing designer paper to 5 x 3-3/8. Then, I fussy cut the rocks and otter to adhere to the corner of the panel.
- This panel is only temporarily adhered to the back till I put my personal message on it.

Debbie: Hello! Thanks so much for sharing your adorable otters card with Critter Crazy #101! The pond scene looks tranquil and serene. I’m sure your grandson will be wanting to explore in and around pond once he sees this! — Becca
P.S. Please consider linking this card to FQGS or FarmQuest General Store challenge blog with its theme of anything farm and/or country goes. Rural, remote, outdoor settings and activities are the types of topics we’re looking for. Otters on a log next to cattails in a pond are just perfect for FQGS.
