Stampin’ Up! Light & Wonder Card for Let’s Craft and Create Challenge

Create this card using Light & Wonder by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets to Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Let’s Craft and Create Challenge starts today, and the theme is a very easy one for most of us card makers! We want to see lots of layers on your projects. My card is using the brand new Light & Wonder bundle, that was the first item on my preorder last month. I love it! The dies are wonderful and the stamp set has great sentiments to match. The Lights of Aurora designer paper looks like the “northern lights” on one side and coordinating solid colors on the B side. What’s not to love?! I love making scenic cards and this one was so easy to make.

Ready to get your creative juices flowing? Head over to the gallery for a dose of inspiration, and if you’re feeling crafty, come play along with us!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base (measurements in inches)…

  • This 6 x 6 card started with the new 12 x 12 thick white cardstock. Yay! I cut it down to 12 x 6 and scored it at 6.

And now, the fun part!

  • I used one of the cards in the holiday catalog as inspiration. All of the papers I used were 6″ wide to make it easy to layer after cutting.
  • I started at the top and worked my way down:
    • Lights of Aurora paper
    • white cardstock for the mountain tops
    • Lost Lagoon (B side in the Lights of Aurora DSP) for the top layer of the mountain
    • Mossy Meadow cardstock for the small trees die. Before adhering it down, I colored the entire piece with the Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blends marker.
    • Azure Afternoon (B side in the Lights of Aurora DSP) for the water, which was cut with one of the dies
    • Mossy Meadow cardstock used to cut the large trees, making sure that there was space at the bottom for a sentiment
    • After gluing all of the layers down, I made sure that the edges of the card were even, trimming anything hanging off the edge with my guillotine trimmer.

I hope to share my card with these challenges:

  1. A Perfect Time to Craft
  2. A Place To Start
  3. Allsorts
  4. Dream Factory
  5. Pammie’s Inky Pinkies Challenges
  6. The Paper Funday

  1. An awesome card with a wonderful scene thanks to that paper on the background that is gorgeous. Thanks for joining us at A Place To Start. Hugs, María.

  2. Magical northern lights on this beautiful card! Thank you so much for taking part in our Dream Factory Challenge. Rosi x

  3. I wasn’t going to buy the Lights of Aurora suite but now that I see your card, guess I will have to add it to my cart and have a class 🙂 Where we live in Canada, we get to view the “Northern Lights” from time to time. Always love your creations.

  4. I have been following your work for some time now and you never cease to amaze me with your talent and ideas. I am anxious to receive my supplies for this card so that I can make one like it. I live in Alaska and the Northern Lights are always spectacular. It will be fun to send this card to my family and friends in the lower 48.

  5. Are the large trees Old Olive? Your instructions say Mossy Meadow but they appear to be a different shade of green.

Looking forward to your reply so I can have a go sAt making this beautiful card

    Kind regards
    Evelyn Lupton
