Stampin’ Up! Words for the Season for Inspiration Station Challenge

Create this card using Words for the Season by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets to Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

Are you ready for a new Inspiration Station  Challenge? We’ve got a brand new photo to get your creative wheels turning. This photo makes me so happy! September is probably my favorite month of the year. The weather is much more suited to me, with mild temps during the day and just a little nip in the air at night. Plus, I can go back to sleeping with the window open. Love it! So, I went through my stash of papers and decided to go with the Splendid Autumn. I have such a heart-wrenching time making cuts into this paper! So, my solution was to make a four-panel Z-fold card. I didn’t try one before, but I still wanted to change up the size so I wouldn’t waste more of the paper. Did you notice this card has no stamping? The Autumn Wishes die cuts are from the upcoming holiday catalog called Words for the Season, which will be available on September 3rd. I love the font, and it covers all of the major fall and winter occasions, so I will be using it a lot!

So, what about you? What part of the inspiration photo speaks to your creative soul? I’d love to see how it moves you. Your interpretation of the inspirational photo is your own, so let your creativity flow! Check out the Inspiration Station gallery and jump in—it’s more fun with you there!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base (measurements in inches)…

  • Firstly, this 5 x 7 card started with cardstock cut to 10 x 7 and scored at 2-1/2 and 5 on the long side.
  • Panels:
    • Cardstock: 1-5/8 x 4-1/2, 1-5/8 x 4, 1-5/8 x 3-1/2, 1-5/8 x 3
    • DSP: 1-3/8 x 4-1/4, 1-3/8 x 3-3/4, 1-3/8 x 3-1/4, 1-3/8 x 2-3/4
  • Inside Panels: 6-3/4 x 4-3/4 and 6-3/4 x 1-3/4

And now, the fun part!

  • Once all of the paper was cut, I glued the panels together. Before adhering them to the Z-fold flap, I sponged the edges of the cardstock with ink to give it a little more detail.
  • After that, I wanted a contrasting paper on the inside of the card I pulled out the beautiful muted paper from the Winter Meadow paper pack. I love that this card shows how autumn starts out so colorful and ends with muted stillness before winter begins.
  • Then, I cut the “Autumn” and “Wishes” with Early Espresso cardstock and glued it to the card base. However, they were a little too dark, so I cut the words again with the same Winter Meadow paper and layered them on the dark ones.

Then, on the inside…

  • I added a small panel of white cardstock, cut with the Textured Notes die, and glued it into the inside bottom corner so that it’s hidden from the front.
  • Finally, I added a bit of life with the birds, using Early Espresso cardstock cut with Sunrise Sailing dies.
