Hi, Stampers!

A new Let’s Craft and Create Challenge starts today and the theme is one that you would call a favorite of mine, “Things with Wings.” Oh, you didn’t have to twist my arm to make me play with my bird stamps! My problem was choosing just one. So, I didn’t! I blended two of my favorites, one current and one retired, then made my favorite designer paper the background. Pairing Feathered Fun and Country Birdhouse was just so much fun! The Beautiful Gallery background made the card perfect.

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • In order to get the birdhouse to look purportional to the background, I made a 6″ square card, which I truly love.
  • Card Base: cardstock – cut to 12 x 6 and scored at 6.
  • Front Panel: cardstock – cut to 5-1/2 x 5-1/2. DSP – cut to 5-1/4 x 5-1/4.

And now, the fun part!

  • Firstly, I started with the retired Country Birdhouse bundle. I stamped the birdhouse image onto the B side of the Beautiful Gallery paper. Then, I started building the rest of the birdhouse with some scraps from the Beautiful Gallery paper (I don’t throw them away if I don’t have to!). Once that was done, I adhered them to the card base with dimensionals and the post was adhered with glue.
  • After that, I stamped the two birds from the Feathered Fun stamp set in Cajun Craze ink and colored them with Stampin’ Blends (colors listed below). Then, I fussy cut them out and glued them to the birdhouse.
  • More Messages is a great bundle to have in my stash because I have sentiments already stamped, cut and ready to go. I added the “Hi There!” to the card front with more dimensionals.
  • Finally, to finish the card, I stamped the birds from Sunrise Sailing for a little more life to the card.

Then, on the inside…

  • Do you like to decorate the inside of your card? I like to keep mine rather on the simple side but I don’t like a blank slate either.
  • Cardstock: 5-1/2 x 5-1/2, and white cardstock: 5-1/4 x 5-1/4
  • I added a soft bit of color to the center of the cardstock so that the sentiment would pop.
  • Then, I added the evergreen trees (from Scenic Adventure dies) to the corner.
