Stampin’ Up! Grow with Love Card for Creative Creases #109

It’s time for a new Creative Creases challenge! Whether you’re a seasoned cardmaker or just getting started, I hope this inspires you to play along. For my card today, I wanted to use the Grow with Love stamp set that I loved at first sight. I just wasn’t sure how to use it! Then, I remembered the Twisted Pop-up fun fold that I hadn’t made in a while. It’s fun to make and a real “WOW” as the recipient opens it up! If you want the details on how I made my card, just scroll down to read all of my “secrets.”

Fun folds are becoming increasingly popular. If you are ready to give one a try, let me know in a comment below. I’m more than happy to help you figure out how to get one started today!

My Card Today

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, I used this Splitcoaststampers tutorial to make this card. The video will help you along if you haven’t made one before. I did make mine slightly different but it doesn’t change the outcome at all, so feel free to do it any way you feel good about.
  • Card Base: 4-1/4 x 11 and scored at 5-1/2.
  • Front Panel: Cardstock: 5-1/4 x 4 and DSP 5-1/8 x 3-7/8
  • Inside Panels: 5-1/4 x 4 (2)
  • Pop-up Panel: 8 x 3. Score down at the center of both sides – at 4 on the long side and 1-1/2 on the short side. After that, make a mark at 2-1/2 from each corner with a pencil, on the top and bottom edge of the cardstock. Score an X from the top to bottom mark and the bottom to top mark. (The center of the X should match the center of the cardstock where the other score lines intersect.) Burnish all score lines with a bone folder, folding both ways on each fold.
  • Mark the center point on the fold of the card base, 2-1/8. At this point, I would suggest watching the tutorial for how to glue Pop-up panel to the card bse.

Now, the FUN part!

  • Once that was done, I cut a piece of cardstock to 3-1/2 x 11 (the tutorial cut it at 3-3/4 x 11 but I didn’t think I needed the height). Then, it was scored at 2-3/4 on both ends and 5-1/2 at the middle.
  • The DSP cut to 3-3/8 x 2-5/8 for all four panels.
  • Then, all of the stamped images were stamped in Mossy Meadow ink and cut out with the Everyday Arches die. They were glued to the panel, then, following the tutorial video, the left side was glued to the bottom of the pop-up mechanism and the right side was glued to the top.
  • Finally, I made a small rectangle with the Textured Notes dies, using Mossy Meadow and Darling Duckling cardstock. Using Darling Duckling cardstock, I cut out the “hugs” from the Hugs Abloom dies, then glued it to the right side of the rectangle to keep it from interfering with the pop-up panel.
  • I decided to put a long-retired Sprigs Trinket, which I colored with the Dark Darling Duckling Stampin’ Blends marker, to the lower left of the rectangle, making sure it didn’t add too much thickness to the card when closed.

Then, on the front…

  • Once the background panel was glued down, I inked up the sentiment from You Are Remarkable stamp set in Mossy Meadow ink. After that, it was cut out with the Grow with Love die.
  • Once that was done, I cut out the foliage from the Gallery Blooms dies, coloring some and leaving others white for some contast.
  • Finally, I added a few Sparkle Dots and a simple bow from the Mossy Meadow & Gold trim.

I hope to submit this card to the following challenges:

  1. 613 Avenue Create
  2. A Perfect Time to Craft
  3. A Place To Start

While this photo isn’t the best, I just had to share how creative Noah was with this toy he’s had since he was a baby. He figured out how to rock it back and forth, how to move it from side to side, to go from room to room. He said he was riding a boat and I better stay out of the “water”!
