Stampin’ Up! Natural Botanicals Card for Let’s Craft & Create

Hi, Stampers!

Let’s Craft and Create Challenge theme for the month of November: twine! It’s one of those supplies that quietly sits in a drawer until inspiration hits. My first thought was to wonder if there was a new trend using twine, but I couldn’t find anything new – but bows, tags, accents… twine can do it all! So, I dusted off my stash, pulled out the retired Greetings of the Season die, and made a tag, adding twine. The background used the new Natural Botanicals stamp set.

If you’ve got a spool of twine hiding in your craft bin, this is your sign to bring it out! Head over to the gallery for a dose of inspiration, and if you’re feeling crafty, come play along with us! Hope to see you in the gallery—it’s more fun with you there!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, I started this card with cardstock cut to 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 and scored at 4-1/4.
  • The stamped background was layered onto cardstock, cut to 5-1/4 x 4.

And now, the fun part!

  • Background: OK, I gotta say that making the background of this card was so much fun! There’s no mistakes with backgrounds like this, so I just stamped to my heart’s content. Once that was done, I decided to grab an old gold Wink of Stella and did some flicking onto the cardstock, which you really can’t see in the photo. After that, I took the Wink of Stella ink and inked all of the edges for even more sparkle. Since I still had ink left over on the block I had used for the edges, I sponged it onto cardstock and cut the leaf from it. Then, I ran it through my cutting machine in the Fern embossing folder for even more texture. Once that was done, I lightly inked over the embossed areas with Mossy Meadow mini ink spot.
  • Tag: I used Basic Beige cardstock to cut out the tag from the Greetings of the Season die collection. Then, I cut out the “love” from the Paper Pumpkin Love of Spring add-on dies with Mossy Meadow cardstock. It was glued down onto the tag. After that, I stamped “sending” from the Peace on Earth stamp set in Pecan Pie ink and cut it into a small rectangle and layered it onto Pecan Pie cardstock. Once that was done, I popped it up with dimensionals. I cut 4 pieces of twine and threaded them through the hole in the tag. Then, the tag was popped up with dimensionals onto the card base.
  • Finally, I popped up the “winked-up” leaf onto the corner of the tag and a sweet branch from the Hugs Abloom dies (also a Paper Pumpkin add-on collection). Then, a few gold sequins add just the right amount of sparkle.

Then, on the inside…

  • Mossy Meadow cardstock: 5-1/4 x 4
  • Basic Beige carstock: 5-1/8 x 3-7/8
  • I lightly brushed Pecan Pie ink with a Stampin’ Blends brush into the middle of the card.
  • Using the Unbounded Love die, I cut two pieces, one in Basic Beige and another in Mossy Meadow. Then, I stamped the sentiment from a Paper Pumpkin stamp set (it was sitting on my desk!) in Pecan Pie ink.
