Stampin’ Up! Homemade Treats for Creative Creases #110

It’s time for a new Creative Creases challenge! Whether you’re a seasoned cardmaker or just getting started, I hope this inspires you to play along. It’s officially the holiday season! The new Homemade Treats bundle is perfect for all you bakers who love to give sweets for the holidays. I am not much of a baker, but my daughter is, and she loves this one. Combining new and retired products is one of my passions in card making! So, bringing out the retired Apron of Love bundle was the perfect combination. I also got some retired Festive Farmhouse designer paper for the look I was going for. The side-step fun fold was a great technique to showcase all of the adorable stamps in the Homemade Treats bundle.

Fun folds are becoming increasingly popular. If you are ready to give one a try, let me know in a comment below. I’m more than happy to help you figure out how to get one started today!

My Card Today

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, I made this A2 side-step card using this Splitcoaststampers tutorial.
  • Card Base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 piece of cardstock
    • Line up the short side of the cardstock at the 3″ mark and start cutting at 1 to 6 1/2.
    • Turn the cardstock and score the 2 1/2″ wide section of the card at 4 1/4″. Then, score the 3″ wide section at 1, 2, 3-1/4, 4-1/2, and 6-1/2. (Secret: to avoid any errors, I marked each side of the card base with a pencil so I wouldn’t score on the wrong side by accident)
  • Fold the score line at 4 1/4″ down (mountain fold).
  • Fold the first score line on the right-hand side of the card down (mountain fold), then alternate between mountain and valley folds to create the steps.
  • Front Panels:
    • Main: Cardstock: 3-1/4 x 2-3/8; DSP: 3-1/8 x 2-1/4
    • Top: Cardstock: 2-7/8 x 1-7/8; DSP: 2-3/4 x 1-3/4
    • Middle: Cardstock: 2-7/8 x 1-1/8; DSP: 2-3/4 x 1
    • Bottom: Cardstock: 5-3/8 x 7/8; DSP: 5-1/4 x 3/4
  • Once all of the paper pieces were cut, they were glued together and added to the card base.

Now, the FUN part!

  • Then, I got all of the stamps out and started having fun with colors, then cutting them out with their coordinating dies. I decided that each of them needed to be a bit thicker, so I cut out a second piece of each image and glued them together. This step is totally optional, but I do like the effect it gives them.
  • After that, I wanted something else to add, so I got the retired Apron of Love bundle out to add some cute images to finish the front.
  • Finally, I thought it would be cute to add a few peppermints for a little sparkle.

Then, on the back…

  • Panels:
    • Right-side: Cherry Cobbler Panel: 2-3/8 x 4-1/8 and Very Vanilla Panel: 2-1/4 x 4
    • Left-side: Cherry Cobbler Panel: 1-7/8 x 2-7/8 and DSP: 1-3/4 x 2-3/4
  • I couldn’t decide what to add to the left panel, so… sentiment it is! I got out the Traditional Labels bundle and stamped “Merry” and “and Bright” in Cherry Cobbler ink and cropped it out with the oval die.
  • Lastly, I added the slotted spoon, colored in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends, for a cute detail.

I hope to submit this card to the following challenges:

  2. A Place To Start
  3. Cut It Up

Our lil’ “Musie” had so much fun and attention on Thanksgiving! I don’t think he has ever seen all of his family members (from both sides) together before. And he got so excited that he started crawling!
