Baby cards are perfect for a “Clean & Simple” card, in my opinion. The Design Team at The Paper Players not only has a CAS challenge but it must be with a sentiment. I am not very confident in my CAS instincts but that is what challenges are for and I have done my best in staying within the criteria. At least I can truthfully say that this card is CAS for ME! LOL
This card started when I heard the announcement that an acquaintance in my community just had a baby. I had only just realized that she was expecting (baby #5). She is one of those incredibly lucky women who never look pregnant. When I found out two weeks ago, she only looked to be about 5-6 months along! Wow! As much as I loved being pregnant, no one would have actually thought I wasn’t. Every part of me wore it like a neon sign! But I digress…
I chose an older stamp set in my photopolymer collection called Countless Sayings. There are two of them that have really great sentiments. Have you seen them? I believe that both are still available. I stamped “Sweet” onto Whisper White then “blendied” it with Coastal Cabana. Next, I inked just the word “baby” from one of the stamps in B.Y.O.P. in Memento Black, stamped it above the image and then inked it again in Coastal Cabana and stamped just off to the right. Once it was cut with the Apothecary Accents framelit, I adhered it to the Best Year Ever DSP, then used the Heart Punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack through both layers of paper to allow the Basic Black to show. The retired Coastal Cabana Stretch Trim (LOVE this trim!) was adhered down then everything placed on the Basic Black layer. The sentiment from the Sale-A-Bration stamp set, Simply Wonderful (already getting quite the workout) was stamped in black and then the Bitty Banners framelit was used to cut it out and the other colors for fun and interest. Lastly, a few little rhinestones were added because I just love BLING! I hope you will play along with LeAnne’s great CAS challenge this week! Here’s how:

Beautiful baby card, Debbie! The black really makes everything pop and goes so well with Coastal Cabana. And that sentiment is wow!
Debbie, this is sooooo sweet! Almost makes me want another just so I could get this card. Maybe a kitten instead? Really, this is adorable. Love all the details – doesn’t “look” simple at all.
Debbie, this is just gorgeous! I love the sentiment and the Coastal Cabana is beautiful! The ribbon and details look amazing! XX
Debbie, this is just darling. Love the new DSP background especially since it is in Coastal Cabana!
Love your sweet baby card, so cute! The ribbon is so adorable, too!
Oh my, baby #5!!! Bless her heart…..everyone knew I was pregnant too! Anyway, I just love the colors you’ve used here…very fresh and trendy! Great sentiment and the ruffles are so sweet!
Great layout, fresh colors, just the right amount of detail and bling…. what is not to love! My favorite detail is the “baby” being stamped twice… so sweet! Now to pin it…
I’m right there with you on the CAS criteria, Debbie. Us “layer gals” need to stick together, right? Love your sweet baby card. The soft colors and the big, bold sentiment work perfectly together. 🙂
Debbie, this is fabulous. I love the colors – the little pop of black is just perfect. You really embraced the challenge and let the sentiment be the star of the show. I know your friend will love this new baby card.
Hugs
Jaydee
Who would have thought that a “sentiment-focal” card could have so much fabulous detail? The overall look IS very clean, but there’s such wonderful stuff going on here. I think my favorite element is you punching the hearts through to the black–seemed to be the perfect “anchor” here. But that ribbon trim at the bottom of the card makes me think of the dust ruffle on a baby crib–so I’m totally in love with it, too!
An adorable card, Debbie! I love the sweet colors. And how I miss that ruffled ribbon! Great job!
Such a lovely card Debbie! I love your sentiment combo and choice of colours, along with the addition of the ruffle trim. I’d say you did well in the CAS stakes!! I’m sure the recipient will love it – baby number 5, OMG! 2 were enough for me (and I looked like a whale each time!)
This card is DEFINITELY clean and simple for you Debbie! You did great!! Such a pretty card for a happy occasion, I was a bitty thing back then so everyone KNEW I was pregnant, not fun and I detest the pictures of it! Ugh! So envious of those women who wear it well!!
Oh, well I wore my pregnancies like a neon sign too Debbie, so don’t feel bad! Congratulations to your friend. I’m sure she loved her new baby card. The paper in the background almost looks like clouds, and I love that ruffled ribbon. Sweet!!!
