Varied Vases is Just a Bike Ride Away to Retro Rubber

Great Rustic Card Featuring #BikeRide, #VariedVases, #BackToSchool, #AllOcassion, #SecretsToStamping, #StampinUp

We are ready for another challenge at Retro Rubber. It’s September so a photo inspiration with a School theme seemed pretty appropriate. Of course, this photo can inspire you in any way you choose – colors, sketch or even just an item you see. I wanted to use the colors but found stamps that worked well, also. The Bike Ride stamp set is just turning retro by our definition since it came out in the 2017-18 Annual Catalog. Varied Vases is a very popular new stamp set, which I used for its great sentiments as well as the vase and its coordinating punch. Swirly Frames is another brand new stamp set that I was excited to use, which you can see framing “Hello.”

My Secrets to Making This Project

  • The various items on the table are from Bike Ride. I thought it would show how versatile this set really is! You don’t have to use them on the bike. It’s also the only set of books stamp I own! LOL
  • I have been digging through my stash of precut shapes and found the rectangle that was already dry embossed with Pinewood Planks. It’s day had come! Then, I used a scrap of Wood Textures for the bottom of the panel.
  • The pieces were easily stamped and cut with their coordinating framelits. Sentiments were stamped and cropped as well.
  • I had just received the Frames Elements this week so I colored one with the Gold Wink of Stella brush and glued it to the card. The sentiment was then adhered above it.

  1. Debbie, I love this wonderful scene you have created, so much attention to detail and I love that you have the cute basket of apples and a stack of books to perfectly match the photo, awesome. And I LOL at your comment on my card. It does look like DSP – didn’t think of that until you mentioned it. Cx

  2. Nice layout and desk scenery you created and love both of those wood textures and sentiment. Thank you so much for sharing this with us at Double Trouble and sure hope you come back next week to see what Trouble Maker, Twisted Sister and Double Dare have up their sleeve. Would like to invite you also to a color challenge ColorMyHeart Color Dare…we want to bring in some of the Stampin’ Up to participate, we’re quite flexible on matching nearest colors.

  3. Debbie, the “Varied Vases” bundle is really awesome, love the pretty vases and all of the sweet little flowers.
And I love your Teacher’s desk, what a beautiful way to decorate it using the Wood Textures DSP, the brick wall gives the perfect perspective.
    Hugs.

  4. Love this card!! I have to say, using the bike ride set for the basket is where I came up with a basket for a project this spring — I was trying to make an Easter basket with a stamp/framelet, and that set was the only one that fit the bill!! Love how you used the vase set too — my cards have been all about vases, but your vase is only PART of the picture!! Beautiful!!
