Can we talk about these new In Colors for a minute? All I can say is WOW!
The colors themselves are gorgeous, but what really sent me over the moon was something I wasn’t expecting—the new magnetic ink pads.
If you’ve followed me for a while, you may know that arthritis can make some crafting tasks more challenging than they used to be. Opening and closing the current ink pad cases is often one of those little frustrations. So when I received the new magnetic cases, I may have done a little happy dance right in my craft room!
The improvements don’t stop there. The new felt pads ink stamps beautifully and evenly, which means no more reaching for daubers to remove excess ink from my stamps. They also hold more ink, so reinking won’t be nearly as frequent.
Honestly, I haven’t found a downside yet—other than the higher price tag. Even so, I think they’re worth every penny. In fact, I’m already hoarding my Stampin’ Rewards so I can soften the blow next year when the entire color collection becomes available in the new style.
Now, on with today’s project!
My husband gave me a beautiful Mother’s Day card this year. He always manages to find the most interesting fun folds, and this one immediately caught my eye. The gatefold design was so unique that I knew I had to try my hand at CASEing it.
Of course, I added a few “Debbie” touches along the way and chose the new Boutique Blossoms bundle to showcase these fabulous In Colors.
Have you picked a favorite from the new In Color collection yet, or are you like me and completely incapable of choosing just one? I’m not sure I can choose just one, but I can tell you I was absolutely thrilled to see Crisp Cantaloupe make a comeback. And paired with Peaceful Pine? Pure perfection!
Scroll down to see both cards—the original Mother’s Day card from Hallmark and my CASEd version. I’d love to hear what you think. I can still hear my mom saying that Hallmark cards are the best! They are the “gold standard in cards.” So, I know what she’d say! How closely do you think I matched the original?
My Hallmark Card

My CASEd Card

Let’s start with the card base…
- This card measures 7 x 4-3/4 when closed completely. The challenging part of CASEing this card was getting the measurements right. The gatefold overlaps on one side, which I thought was interesting and different from other gatefolds. When I did the math for the card base, the length of the CASEd card base totalled over 14 inches. I guess Hallmark has access to some long cardstock! So, I came up with my own card base as follows:
- Card Base:
- 1 piece of cardstock, cut to 9-1/2 x 7, scored at 2.5 and 5
- 1 piece of cardstock, cut to 5-1/2 x 7, scored at 1/2 and 3
- Inside Card Base:
- 11 x 3-1/2, scored at 5-1/2
- DSP Panels:
- left front panel: 7 x 2.5 (need 2)
- center panel inside: 7 x 4-3/8
- mini card panel: 5-3/8 x 3-3/8
- Card Base:
- The first step to putting this card together was adhering the DSP to the long piece of the card base on both sides. After that, I cut the square pieces from each side of the card base using the Stylish Shapes square die. To make sure the two sides lined up, I measured 1-3/8″ from the top of the scoreline and used the score line to make sure the square was cut straight at the top and bottom. (I didn’t adhere the two sides together yet)
And now, the fun part!
- I stamped the flower and leaves on the outer side of the right side of the card base. However, I decided to add some dimension instead. So, this time I stamped the flower with the Peaceful Pine and Crisp Cantaloupe inks and cropped it out. Then, I popped it up over the first flower.
- After that, I stamped “Happy Birthday” from the Scalloped Blooms stamp set at the top of the panel.
- Then, I put the two pieces of the card base together with adhesive and added the inside DSP over the seam.
- Once that was done, I glued the two sides together to create the gatefold. The double layer of cardstock really gives the card strength, so I will remember that for future gatefolds.
- Finally, I cropped out the two leaves from the Boutique Blossoms dies and, using a blending brush, ink-blended them with Peaceful Pine ink and adhered them to the inside of the gatefold.
- The coordinating Heirloom Boutique sticker sheet had the perfect little flowers, so I used three of them to place on the leaves.

Then, on the inside…
- The inside card is the biggest departure from the CASEd card. I thought a top folding card would be nicer than the side folding of the Hallmark card. As stated above, the card base is 11 x 3-1/2 and scored at 5-1/2.
- After adhering the coordinating DSP, I stamped the flower from Boutique Blossoms and cropped it out with the same square die that I used to crop out the cutouts on the gatefold.
- I fiddled with the placement, added glue to the back, and added it to the card base.
- I stamped the sentiment from Scalloped Blooms stamp set and cropped it out with the Forever Florals die.
- Inside the card, I added a scallop sticker from the sticker sheet and another leaf with a small flower at the bottom.
- To finish off the card, inside and outside, I added In Color dots and butterflies to bring some sparkle to my card.
I hope you liked my card today! I’d love to hear what you think. Do you see the similarities between the two cards?

Thanks for scrolling to the end!

My 5 year old grandson Noah was gone for two weeks, and we missed him terribly. When he finally came back, we spent the first five minutes wrapped up in hugs and kisses. It was the sweetest reunion, and I think he definitely missed us just as much as we missed him.
Since Noah loves soup, we decided to make cioppino together. He eagerly helped with every step, even peeling the shrimp. There’s something special about cooking with children—the kitchen becomes a place for learning, laughter, and making memories. 🍤🥣💕
His parents often describe him as a picky eater, but he certainly isn’t at our house! I’ve found that when kids are involved in preparing a meal, they’re much more likely to taste and enjoy it. Giving them a role in the process builds confidence, curiosity, and a willingness to try something new. And honestly, those moments spent cooking side by side are just as nourishing as the meal itself. ❤️
