Stampin’ Up! Greenery Lane is All Aflutter for Let’s Craft & Create

Create this card using Greenery Lane by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets to Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Let’s Craft and Create Challenge starts today, and our optional theme is “Tag! You’re It—(Use a tag on your project or make one).” Tags are a great way to anchor your images to the card front, and I have a few retired punches that haven’t been used in a long time. This card came together like magic—it’s amazing how pressure to make a card can spark your creativity haha! I had the Greenery Lane washi tape that I had adhered to vellum to see how I liked it on my desk and wanted to use it with the coordinating Greenery Lane stamp set. After having fun making the background and embellishing the tag, I thought a few butterflies (new All Aflutter bundle) would add the “life” I enjoy on my cards.

Ready to get your creative juices flowing? Head over to the gallery for a dose of inspiration, and if you’re feeling crafty, come play along with us!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this card started with the cardstock, cut to 11 x 4-1/4 and scored at 5-1/2.
  • Then, I cut the Nature Walk designer paper to 5-1/8 x 3-7/8 and ran it through the Vine & Stone embossing folder. To make the embossing stand out, I sponged the entire panel with Crumb Cake ink. Once that was done, I layered it onto white cardstock and cut it to 5-1/4 x 4.

And now, the fun part!

  • Once that was done, I cut the Whispers of Texture cardstock (on sale!) with the retired Happy Labels Pick-a-Punch. I tore off the bottom of the tag, then sponged the edges all around with more Crumb Cake ink. I used the Greenery Lane branch in Lost Lagoon ink and sponged the edge of the leaves with Crumb Cake ink before stamping it onto the tag. I popped it up with dimensionals and adhered it to the card base.
  • Once that was done, I cut the Greenery Lane washi tape with their coordinating dies.
  • After that, I cut the large leaf with the Greenery Lane die and sponged it with Crumb Cake ink.
  • I stamped the sentiment from the Greenery Land stamp set onto Lost Lagoon cardstock and cut it with a retired Happy Labels punch and sponged it with Crumb Cake ink.
  • The sentiment was glued onto the tag with a dimensional on the right, and then I started adding the washi tape around the sentiment.
  • The retired Bordered Ribbon was cut and tied into a knot and added to the tag with a glue dot.
  • Finally, I inked up the new All Aflutter stamp in Lost Lagoon ink and punched out with the coordinating punch. Also, I added the sweet Pressed Flower Motifs to add to the vintage feel of this card.

Then, on the inside…

  • Not pictured, I added a panel of Crumb Cake and white cardstocks to add a personal message.

Thanks for scrolling to the end!

As his after-school sidekick most weekdays, I’m always trying to find fun ways to keep him entertained without defaulting to screens. We started with a little “chemistry” kit, but I think we officially exhausted every possible experiment in that box. So I grabbed a new kit that teaches the basics of electricity… which is an area I know approximately nothing about. Today it was basically the blind leading the blind.

BUT… never fear. This kid figured it out in about 10 minutes and then spent the next 2 ½ hours happily making things light up, beep, and even power a little fan. I was honestly amazed. Like… how are their brains this fast?!

It was such a reminder that sometimes the best entertainment is just letting them build, explore, and tinker. And bonus: they don’t even miss the screens when they’re having that much fun. I just loved that although I had to look at each new circuit he created, I didn’t have to do it with him! Score!!

It’s a great idea that you give Noah those kits to play and I support the idea that you should try to make a light-up card with him.
