Hi, Stampers!
A new Creative Crafters Challenge starts today, which is always Anything Goes.
Ever love a card kit, but feel like the finished cards are just a little too clean and simple? That’s exactly how I felt about the Nourish & Flourish kit. It had somehow ended up tucked away in the back of my craft room closet, and when I was reorganizing recently, I pulled it out and decided it was time to actually create with it.
The kit includes some really beautiful elements, but I wanted my cards to have a bit more dimension, texture, and personality—so I did what any crafter would do… I zhuzhed it up!
Today I’m sharing two cards that started with this kit, but the best part is that you can absolutely use these same ideas with any stamp set, patterned paper, and embellishments you already have. So grab what’s in your craft room and give it a go!
Shop Your Stash Substitution Ideas
Don’t have this exact kit? No worries — you can easily recreate these card designs using supplies you already own! Here are a few easy swaps:
- Stamped Images: Use any floral, leafy, or everyday image set you love
- Sentiments: Swap in any greeting that fits the occasion (birthday, thank you, hello, encouragement, etc.)
- Patterned Paper: Pick 2–3 coordinating prints (one bold + one subtle works great!)
- Cardstock Colors: Pull colors straight from your patterned paper for a perfect match
- Die Cuts / Ephemera: Substitute with punched shapes, fussy cutting, or any leftover die cuts you have
- Texture Elements: Add embossing, ink blending, stitching, or a simple background stamp
- Embellishments: Enamel dots, gems, pearls, ribbon, twine, or whatever is rolling around in your stash
- Layers + Dimension: Add extra mats, popped-up layers, or foam tape for that “finished” look
✨ SECRET: If your card feels “too simple,” try adding one more layer and one small embellishment cluster. It makes a huge difference!
Alright… let’s get to the zhuzh…
Let’s start with Card #1! This is a super easy design to CASE, and you can swap in any patterned papers and sentiment you have on hand. I focused on adding just a few extra layers and texture details to take it from “nice” to “WOW.”
My Secrets!

Card #1
- Firstly, the only thing I added to the kit was the Calypso Coral cardstock for the card base and layers. This card started with a card base, cut to 1 x 4-1/4 and scored at 5-1/2. Then, I cut one of the kit’s envelopes down to 5-1/4 x 4 and adhered it to the card base.
- I cut all of the card bases in half and took one with the pretty leaf embossing (if you look closely you can see it) and cut it down to 4-1/4 x 3-1/4. Then, I cut it in half lengthwise at 1-5/8 and cut those pieces at 1-1/2. I mounted them onto Calypso Coral cardstock that were cut to 1-3/4 x 1-5/8 (2) and 2-7/8 x 1-3/4 (2). They were all adhered together and adhered to the card base.
- Once that was done, I took the pretty flowers and grouped them together onto the panels.
- The kit came in different languages, so they weren’t needed. I mounted one of them to the English one to give it a bit more strength and then popped it up with dimensionals in the middle of the card.
- Finally, I added the little pearls from the kit onto the sentiment panel.

Card #2
If you’re someone who loves to get more than one look from your supplies, you’ll love Card #2. I used many of the same pieces, but added some details that were in my stash. Of course, I had to try a fun fold! I also changed the focal point and added a few “zhuzh-worthy” details.

- I started with cardstock that was 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 and scored it at 2-1/8 and 4-1/4 to make my favorite Z-fold card.
- Then, I cut some textured cardstock to 5-1/2 x 2 and added one of the banner stickers from the kit to the edge before adhering it to the card base.
- After that, I cut an envelope down to make the strip on the right side of the card base, which is technically the inside of the card.
- Once that was done, I added all of the flowers at the bottom of the card base.
- Then, I made the square for the sentiment from Shaded Spruce cardstock cut with the Stylish Shapes die and cut more of the envelope paper to layer on top (1-3/4 x 1-3/4). To cut the sentiment, I used the new Rounded Rectangle punch on both sides to make it a rounded square. Then, it was popped up with dimensionals over the background square. It was mounted to the Z-fold, lining up the top and bottom corners with the edge of the panel.
- The top corner needed a little color, so I added the flowers and leaves, tucking them under the sentiment panel.
- Finally, I added the bee trinkets and sparkle dots for a little bling.

OK, funny story! Musa looks so much like his beautiful mother that her iPhone actually thinks it’s her when he finds it and opens up with Face ID! Well, now he’s learned how to do selfies, and he’s getting very good at it! These kids have technology figured out in the womb, so he’ll be able to fix my phone problems in no time at all, don’t you think?
Do you have a little person who helps you with technology yet? Let me know in a comment!

Loved the cards. It inspires me to bash my stash!
Mike and I are BOTH chuckling over Musa’s face being able to open phone! Laughing/not laughing, too…it’s sort of scary that technology is getting that wrong.
Your creative cards from the kit are fabulous, each so different and so special!
Very adorable little boy!
Both great cards, love the fold and beautiful paper, flowers on the second card. Gorgeous photo of Musa, my youngest Granddaughter sorted my phone out in 2or 3 minutes after two adults had tried for over half an hour and she was only 5yrs old at the time??? Mind you one of the adults was me so no competition there lol. Thank you for joining us at A Place to Start.
