My Card Today

Today my card for you is a 4 panel fun fold card. I have always enjoyed making cards that could be displayed easily and there’s no better time for them than the holidays. Therefore, when I saw this fun fold, I just had to try it. Pairing the Framed & Festive stamp set (I just love the fonts!) with the fun Kindest Gnomes bundle and Storybook Gnomes designer paper made this card so much fun to make. Both Framed & Festive as well as Kindest Gnomes will retire soon so hope you get them while you can!

My Secrets!

  • Firstly, I want to share the tutorial from Laura Buechler at Inky Fingers Papercrafting. She did such a wonderful job with all of the photos for those of us who are visual. The only thing I changed from her tutorial was the measurements for the designer paper since I am such a fan of 1/8″ borders. Feel free to stick to her measurements if you like!
  • Card Measurements:
  • Firstly, you need two card bases:
    • Cardbase #1: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and scored at 3/4″ and 4-1/4″ on the longer side, then cut 1/2″ off the top to the 4-1/4″ score line
    • Same color Cardbase #2: 5″ x 6-1/4″ and score at 2-3/4″ then cut 3/4″ off the top to the score line
  • Cardstock panels: In a coordinating color, cut panels to 4″ x 5-1/4,” 4″ x 2-1/2″ (2), 3-1/4″ x 3-3/4″ (2)
  • Coordinating designer paper panels: cut to 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″, 3-7/8″ x 2-3/8″ (2), 3-1/8″ x 3-5/8″
  • Once I was done, all of the card base pieces were adhered together.

Now, the FUN Part!

  • After that was done, I started making simple pieces to decorate the panels. Firstly, I cropped out the gnome’s house with the die and made a couple more cuts with white cardstock to pop it up a bit.
  • Then, I made a gnome with the dies – a hat, the nose (colored with Crumb Cake ink), beard and shoes. Before adhering them together, I ran the hat through the Tasteful Textiles embossing folder and traced the shoelaces with the Soft Suede marker.
  • Next, I stamped the sentiment from Kindest Gnomes in Soft Suede ink, cropped it out with the Stitched Rectangle die and layered it onto Soft Suede cardstock. Then, I added a blank stitched rectangle panel to the back panel for a personal message.

Belly Band

  • Since this card is thick, I decided it could use a cute belly band. So, I stamped the sentiment from Framed & Festive in Bermuda Bay ink and cut it out with the circle die from Stylish Shapes. After that, I cut out two squares from the same dies in Bermuda Bay and cut a piece of designer paper from Sunshine & Rainbows, which is now retired. After that, I fussy cut the adorable gnome house and the sweet female gnome (gotta represent, right?) Then, to assemble the belly band, I glued one end of the Frayed ribbon to the back of the panel, wrapped it around the card and cut/glued to the panel. Then, I applied dimensionals to the back of the panel and adhered the second square to hide the glued ribbon.

I am submitting this card to the following challenges:
