Magnolia Mood Birthday Card for the Fun Fold Blog Hop

Welcome to the Fun Folds Blog Hop with Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators!!

Hi, Stampers! We have a great blog hop of fun fold crafters today so I know you will enjoy the inspiration this month. There’s a lineup below to make it easy for you to hop along and see the great inspiration from other creative SU demonstrators. This fun fold card, using the new Magnolia Mood bundle is great for you to try since it uses a basic card base where you make a couple of cuts and then put it back together. I have made this style a few times and love how it turns out. HERE is one I really loved and the first one I ever made is HERE. Both of these show a different variation that are fun to make.

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this A2 card was made with thick white cardstock measuring 11 x 4-1/4, scored at 5-1/2 then cut 2″ from the edge and 2″ from the score line.
  • After that, I cut the Thoughtful Designs specialty paper to make two panels of 1-3/4 x 4 to cover the front of the card base.
  • Then, I cut white cardstock with the Nested Essentials die (measures about 4-1/4) to connect the front pieces together. SECRET: The middle piece cut out from the cardstock can bridge the two together if you’d like.

Now, the FUN Part!

  • Once that was done, I cut the large Magnolia Mood flower from the Textured Metallic specialty paper. I thought it was so pretty that I cut out the smaller flower and some leaves as well. I popped the large flower onto the card front with dimensionals, then layered the other flower and leaves around it.
  • Then, I stamped the “Birthday Wishes” sentiment in Memento Black ink and cut it out with the Stylish Shapes circle die.
  • Before popping it up with dimensionals, I adhered the Sheer Ribbon into a lazy bow underneath it.
  • Finally, I added the Faceted Gems for some sparkle.

Then, on the inside…

  • My handwriting is not nearly what it used to be (I blame all the electronic stuff we have to sign these days!), so I don’t want it to show through the opening of the card front. To fix that, I cut another piece of white cardstock the same size that I used on the front. Then, I placed it in the same spot on the inside of the card. Now, I can sign the card on that piece and know I didn’t ruin the card front with my terrible handwriting!
  • Then, I stamped the little flower from Magnolia Mood and cropped it out with the coordinating die to finish the inside.

  5. Such a beautiful card! I struggle with fun folds and very seldom (if ever) make them. I am always so impressed by work such as yours! Thank you so much for joining us at The Paper Funday Challenge this month.

  6. Wow! This card is so beautiful! I’ve only ever made gap cards in portrait orientation, so seeing yours in landscape orientation is inspiring me to try it that way next time! That sheer ribbon behind those lovely flowers is gorgeous! I need to remember to use ribbon and twine more often on my cards!
Noah looks adorable in that dinosaur shirt!

  7. It is a spectacular card – I love the design and the beautiful way you’ve incorporated the metallic texture. Although I love your card, I am afraid you didn’t follow the rules of the challenge. Please refer to them at the bottom of the challenge page and I hope you join us again soon
