Another Sweet Old Friends Card for Creative Creases #116

It’s time for a new Creative Creases challenge! Whether you’re a seasoned cardmaker or just getting started, I hope this inspires you to play along.

I recently shared THIS card using the adorable Sweet Old Friends suite. It was too cute and fun to put away, so I have another card to share today. This card had no plan, but it turned out great! I haven’t seen one like this before, so let’s just call it a Pop-Up Arch card. Most of the products I used are from Stampin’ Up!. However, the baby blocks at the bottom are from another company. Stampin’ Up! just doesn’t have enough in the baby department, IMHO. My daughter-in-law’s brother just had a baby girl, so I am sending this card to them.

Fun folds are becoming increasingly popular. If you are ready to give one a try, let me know in a comment below. I’m more than happy to help you figure out how to get one started today!

My Card Today

Create this card using Sweet Old Friends by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets to Stamping

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, I cut the Golden Glow cardstock to 11 x 4-1/4 and scored at 5-1/2. Once that was done, I cut the card front with the Everyday Arches die, leaving the top off the edge of the paper and wrapping the back of the card underneath the bottom plate.
  • After that, I cut one of the Silly Old Bear scenic designer papers with a smaller Everyday Arches die and glued it to the front of the card.
  • Inside, I cut the designer paper to 5-3/8 x 4-1/8 and glued it to the inside of the card.

Now, the FUN part!

  • I fussy cut the adorable Piglet carrying a balloon. (Funny story: when I showed this card to my daughter Holly in Australia when we were talking on WhatsApp video, she said that she loved the image of Piglet carrying a potato! Now I can’t stop seeing it as a potato!)
  • Then, I stamped the upper sentiment, A Big Welcome to Your, in Early Espresso ink and cropped it out with the Three Banner Punch. I punched another banner and layered it underneath the sentiment for a little detail.

Then, on the inside…

  • So, for the inside of the card, I cut Very Vanilla cardstock with the smaller arch die and glued it to the card base.
  • Then, made the pop-up with cardstock, cut to 1 x 3-1/2 and scored at 1/2, 1, 2, and 2-1/2. I glued it into a box shape and glued the bottom and back panel to the card base.
  • After that, I took the sweet image and scored the bottom and glued it to the pop-up.
  • The baby blocks (Pretty Pink Posh – Baby Basics stamp set) were stamped in Early Espresso ink and colored with Golden Glow and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blends. Then, I fussy cut them out and popped them up with dimensionals. I positioned them so that they could hold the front arch down.
  • Finally, I fussy-cut Rabbit and glued him to the inside of the card.

I hope to submit this card to the following challenges:

  1. 613 Avenue Create

This little guy is the cutest! He loves being outside, and when he’s inside, he bolts for a window to look outside! He is so observant and seems to notice even the smallest things. Don’t you just love rediscovering the world in a child’s eyes?
