Gorgeous Grunge Helps to Make the Perfect Blend

Perfect Blend, Gorgeous Grunge, Memorable Moments

This card is for my wonderful daughter who will be turning 17 soon. She absolutely adores anything I make with Gorgeous Grunge and since she is my coffee and tea buddy, that is the idea behind my card! I made this card with the Pals Paper Arts challenge in mind, using Baked Brown Sugar, So Saffron and Pacific Point. The edges of the background paper were distressed with the distressing tool and sponged then lots of “coffee spills” were created with Baked Brown Sugar, using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. I stamped two of the sentiment stamps in So Saffron and Pacific Point then punched the center with a circle punch and popped it up with dimensionals.

So long to Springtime Hello Simply Created Garland Kit

Spiral Flower Die, Petite Petals Punch, Bird Builder Punch, Perfect Pennants, Springtime Hello Simply Created Garland Kit

Springtime Hello Simply Created Garland Kit was such a fun kit and is much more than just garland. I made this frame for my wonderful sister, Katy, for her birthday. I wanted to make her something that would remind her of the only Leadership convention that I have attended and was made so much more special experiencing it with her. I submitted this frame for the Creative Crew June challenge, which was to “celebrate your best friend on a scrapbook page or by making a gift for them.” I can’t imagine a better friend to share this great hobby with!

It’s All in the Details

  • Stamp Set: Perfect Pennants, Petite Petals
  • Paper:  Crisp Cantaloupe, Neutrals DSP
  • Ink:  Crisp Cantaloupe
  • SU Tools:  Springtime Hello Simply Created Garland Kit, Spiral Flower Die, Bird Builder Punch, Petite Petals Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch
  • Finishing Touch:  Pearl Basic Jewels, Large Pearls, Neutral Designer Buttons, Mini Metallic Clothespins, Baker’s Twine, Candy Dots, Mini Brads

Mixed Bunch, Flower Shop, Petite Petals, Another Great Year

This card sketch is quickly becoming a “go-to” pattern for me. I used the same papers that were in the frame, then added some texture with the Fancy Fan and Scallops Embossing Folders. The Scallops Embossing Folder is retiring but will be staying in my craft room for a long time to come! I layered several ribbons, then applied flowers and the sentiment.

And, lastly, here is the gift bag that I made her from the Paper Pumpkin Kit and the Heartfelt Banner Designer Kit. Paper Pumpkin, Heartfelt Banner Designer Kit, Gift Bag

A Mini-Album Made Out of WHAT?

Mini-Album, Starburst Sayings, Feel Goods

You should have seen my face when I read the Creative Crew challenge! I need to make a mini-album out of WHAT? You have got to be kidding me? TOILET PAPER ROLLS? How in the world can you make a TP roll look, well, nice?? Of course, I am sure that they thought this shouldn’t be a problem for us. How could they possibly know that my family doesn’t USE toilet paper? We made the switch to flushable wipes several years ago, so my wonderful sister AND upline, Katy McGloin, came to the rescue when my daughter was just too embarrassed to ask her friends for a few. As I always say – that’s what PALS are for!

Here is the challenge: Scrapbook and More Focus: Mini Books – Back in 2009 we CASEd Julie Griffith’s idea of a toilet tissue tube book and presented it under 3-D challenges, 3D094. See instructions and pictorials on this cute little mini book. Try your hand at this project and enjoy the process.

The first thing I did was to run the TP rolls through the Big Shot to get them to lay down flat. I cut and glued paper to each roll from the Retro Fresh DSP from the Spring Catalog and lined the opening with Coastal Cabana and Baked Brown Sugar Stretch Trim. Each page has different quote and the tab that fits into the roll is made with the Angled Tag Topper Punch and ready for photos and journaling. To bind it together, I went to the local office supply store and asked them to punch holes in them, which they did for very little expense and the holes were the perfect size for ribbons, making for a very festive binding.

Daydream Medallions

Daydream Medallions, Itty Bitty Banners

Daydream Medallions sure packs a punch! I absolutely love the raised layers made with the coordinating framelits. I am entering this card into the Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge this week. It’s a very fun sketch so get into your craft room and play along with me!

ppa sketch

This card started out with the new In-Color, Hello Honey. I love this color! I then found the pretty DSP from the Moonlight DSP paper stack. Daydream Medallions is a favorite of mine but I haven’t used it enough. I stamped and cut the shapes with the Floral Frames framelits, then popped each layer up with dimensionals. Blackberry Bliss was then used to sponge the Doily. The button was made out of clay and colored with matching ink, then topped with a large pearl.

I Like You and Blendabilities Sneak Peek

I Like You, Polka-Dot Pieces, Blendabilities

I Like you! Of course, I really DO like you but that’s the name of a new hostess stamp set and it is so pretty, don’t you think? This card is my very first attempt using the Blendabilities so you can see that you can make a beautiful card with no experience! I think these pens are going to be a huge hit because of several reasons. First, they are super-easy to use. You don’t need to have charts of colors to know which ones to use. You can use them going from dark to light or light to dark and the blending is perfect every time. Second, they are square-shaped so when you use them the shape keeps them from rolling off your craft table (and making a nice mess on you or your floor). They have a large and small brush for all possibilities in coloring. They will even color your embellishments (see the eye on my bird? That’s a pearl colored in Old Olive.). Lastly, the price for a set of three coordinating pens (Stampin’ Up! colors in a light, medium and dark shades) is a great value at only $11.95! They will not be available at the time of the new catalog launch but you really should call (or find) a local demonstrator and see them for yourself. You are definitely going to want this new product!

It’s All in the Details

  • Stamp Set: I Like You, Something to Say, Polka-Dot Pieces
  • Paper:Old Olive, Summer Starfruit, Whisper White
  • Ink: Old Olive, Summer Starfruit, Memento Black
  • SU Tools: Blendabilities, Honeycomb Emboss Folder, Fancy Fan Emboss Folder, Bird Builder Punch, Artisan Label Punch

My card is for a friend who is going through some difficult times. I hope she likes it! And I hope you liked my card too! If you did, please take a minute and leave me a comment!
