Paper Pumpkin December 2025 Alternative Cards for the Fun Fold Blog Hop

Hi, Stampers! Fun folds make every handmade card extra special, and today’s blog hop is FULL of great ideas! Whether you’re looking for a unique way to surprise someone or just want to try something new, you’re in for a treat. I’ve teamed up with very creative SU demonstrators to bring you a lineup of creative, must-try designs. I have four alternative cards today that I made from the Paper Pumpkin December 2025 kit. The watercolor card bases are beautiful! I wanted to try the technique that Patty Bennett recently demonstrated on her blog HERE, which I had done before with designer paper rectangles. Even though I have the punch she used, I thought the retired Tailored Tag punch would be fun. I love how the punched panel turned out, which I cut into 4 panels. I have three cards using them and have another one for a later project.

My Secrets!

First, make the punch panels…

• To make the punched panel, I made a piece of white cardstock cut down to 8-1/2 x 8-1/2 and made pencil marks at 4-1/4 vertically and horizontally. After cutting the card bases of each of the three card bases with the punch, I started at the middle of the cardstock, laying down the punched pieces randomly until I was happy. I did add the textured metallic paper for more variety and glam as well as one of the foliage panels from the kit. Once the entire panel was complete, I cut it down to four 4-1/4 panels. Card #1 (above)

• My first card is my favorite—a Double Pillar card. I like the construction of this one because the card base is all one piece of cardstock. I cut white cardstock to 4-1/4 x 12, then cut 1/4″ off the 12″ side, then scored the pillars at 3/4, 1-1/2, 2-1/4, and 3 on both ends. I glued the end of each pillar after burnishing all of the score lines.
• Using the Paper Pumpkin December 2025 card base, I trimmed it down to 5/8 x 4-1/8 (cut 2). I also used the Textured metallic paper, making 4 pieces the same size to cover the pillars.
• I decided to add a piece of window sheet for the sentiment, so I only added adhesive to the top and bottom of the pillar strips. I added glue dots to the window sheet and was able to lift the designer paper panel to slip the window sheet underneath. Obviously, you can add the window sheet before adhering the paper strips or just add your sentiment to the card base.
• I trimmed the panel down a tiny bit to fit into the center of the card.
• I stamped the sentiments from the Paper Pumpkin kit and cut it out with the Spotlight on Nature die. I adhered it to the window sheet and added the foliage underneath. Lastly, I added the sequins for a little sparkle.
• For the back of the card, I cut another one of the card bases from the kit and adhered the white panel from the kit for a personal message.

Card #2

• This card was the first card I made with the punch panel. You can see how easy it is, and it still makes a beautiful card.
• I cut white cardstock to 4-1/2 x 4-1/2 and glued the punch panel on top.
• The card base is 5 x 10 and scored at 5. I popped the panel to the card base.
• The sentiment was stamped onto the small banner and vellum that was included in the kit.
• Lastly, I added the flower, foliage, and sequins from the kit.

Card #3

• My third card is a Z-fold, which I almost always make with my Paper Pumpkin kits. I love them, and they are so easy to make. (I’m not quite sure why it didn’t photograph well—sorry about that!) I started with white cardstock 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 and scored at 4-1/4 and 2-1/8.
• I cut the card base into two 2-1/8 x 5-3/8 panels and another panel at 5-3/8 x 4-1/8.
• I adhered the vellum and oval die cut from the kit to the inside of the card. Then, using the smaller oval die cut from the kit, I stamped the “thank you” in Pretty Peacock. It looked bare to me; I just can’t handle too much white space!
• So, I used a 2″ circle punch and cut it in half, adhering it to the top and bottom. Then, I cut 1/16″ strip of the bronze paper to cover the ends. For a little sparkle, I used the flower (or are they stars?) from the new Greenery Lane dies.

Card #4

• I debated showing this card because it was a comedy of errors! I cut the white cardstock to layer the punch panel on top. No problem.
• However, when I was making the card base, I forgot to trim it down to 10″ before scoring it at 5. I still didn’t see the mistake. Only after folding it did I see the problem. Sure, I could have just trimmed off the extra inch, but that was too easy. I wanted to think of a way to make it work and finally came up with making a tent fold and added two more score lines at 5-1/2 and 6. I just adhered it at the top after adding the panel to close the end pieces.
• Once that fiasco was over, I stamped the sentiment in Shaded Spruce on the oval panel included in the kit. Then, I added flowers from the kit and used the add-on dies for the leaves.
• For the back, I made a white panel at 4-1/2 x 4-1/2, stamped the sentiment and leaves from the kit to finish the card.
